80 Plus Platinum is great and all but 1200W?? I'd say most systems, even enthusiast grade systems, do not need this kind of power. Especially when CPUs / GPUs these days take so little power to run.

PacwageoYou do know that there are desktop CPU's which actually need 140W? That's just the Intel extreme, but then there are those who usually run quad-SLI and quad-fire. Depending on what top of the line card you have that alone is 1000W-1200W. That is on stock, factory spec.
All X77/X99 CPU's have a TDP in excess of 100W iirc(130W-140W, some xeons hit 160W and there are some who use Xeons at home) i thought, which are more performance, not extreme setups really. You could easily use a 1200W unit, if you know that you may have more gear at higher performance (usually involves moar wattage). A good unit with higher wattage is just as efficient as a unit with smaller wattage in a certain operating range iirc., so why not if you have any designs on future?
If someone's actually looking for this particular unit, this may be a good deal for someone. I think, if it hits 240 then it would be $20 or so cheaper than other deals, and right now it is $10 or so cheaper than anywhere else.
If i were looking for a unit right now, i would rather get a EVGA i saw for cheaper on newegg sometime ago, with more wattage, but that's just me. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=85573&promoid=1395&gclid=Cj0KEQjw-OCqBRDXmIWvveLE3_cBEiQAZWfImaBEFZSMjAAhRN6lJU47DkgPcbNQXriw6fdAQwi_KQEaAksx8P8HAQ

If one wants a platinum certified one... http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/EVGA-SuperNOVA-1200-P2-Power-Supply/9168744/product.html?refccid=45VS3AKAZVYLMB2E3WPQC6MRYU&searchidx=3
Amazon has got it for $232
7 years is plenty, but EVGA offers 10 years warranty on either of the units mentioned above.
