I've had the Corbett I S (orange) for about a week now. I'm using it connected to a google Pixel XL via bluetooth. On my first use, I noticed the audio is cutting out (skipping?) for a quarter second or so every minute or two.
I have tried moving my phone around. It skips right next to the speaker. It skips far away from the speaker. It skips while streaming. It skips while playing downloaded files.
Then I updated the firmware to 2017-06-16, which provided a more attractive "the bluetooth is now connected" voice. But didn't do anything to fix the skipping/cutting out.
Is this an issue anybody else is aware of? And does anybody have advice on how to fix it?
Levi8thani have a similar issue, however it happens much less frequently with mine, only ~ once in 30 minutes, try resetting the speaker with the small reset hole while the speaker is on, if the problem persists, you can contact their support team, they respond really fast and can probably do a better job of troubleshooting than me. PS; if you hold both the + and - buttons for ~3 seconds it will change from voice prompts to less intrusive beeps and tones
johnny304Thanks for replying. Resetting had no effect. I've tried other phones, they cut out, too. I have a (non-waterproof) sony bluetooth speaker which works perfectly with my phones, no cutting out, so I'm sure the issue isn't on my phone's side.
I have contacted support. They think it has a faulty bluetooth board and have offered to replace it. I am now waiting for something to ship.
Levi8thantheir support team is quite good, when you do receive a replacement, ( which should be <4 days) could you see how the (supposed" faulty bluetooth chip affects the stereo function.
Levi8thanI have the same exact problem. I thought it just had terrible bluetooth range, but I can have the phone inches away from it, and it will cuts out sporadically. It's super annoying.
Plus has anyone noticed how huge the volume levels are apart? One click up and I can barely hear it, and one more click up and its bursting my ear drums.
retrobmx63the volume levels are a bit big yes, but your other problem does sound like a faulty Bluetooth chip, with my speaker i get at least 50ft without any sound degradation. you should contact their support team, they are really helpful and will fix any issue you have.
Levi8thanI was just going to ask the question...'did they fix the cutting out issue that seems to plague this unit?'
Thank you for answering that question before I asked!
johnny304I received my replacement a couple of weeks ago. Some thoughts.
1. My original speaker was orange. Even though I was clear to ask for an orange one as my replacement, I received a black one, with scratch marks on the black panel where the screws were clearly removed and reattached. From this I am assuming I received a refurbished unit.
2. The replacement still cuts out frequently. Only significantly less than the original one. My original speaker would skip once every minute or two. This speaker cuts out once every 10 to 15 minutes. But it is still like clockwork. I will get at least 4 skips every hour during playback. I have tried this with two separate phones, the results are the same. There is no cutting out when I use a speaker cable and connect directly to the phone, which is what I've been doing lately because I'm bothered by the skipping.
3. Stereo mode: OMG this is worse with the skipping. 2 speakers Left and Right. Left will usually cut out first, while Right continues to play for a second. Then both are silent for a half second or so, then Left will play what Right has already played, and Right will join back in, then the audio continues. It's terrible. But it's fair to not have expected this to work, since one of these speakers was deemed broken to begin with.
I need to contact support again and ask if they are willing to try again.
Levi8thanThanks for the information, I'm not sure whether you are really unlucky or something else is messing with your Bluetooth, I currently have two units, and Experience little to no cutouts at all, even in stereo mode. if you get the chance, maybe try using them in a different location (a few miles away), its not outside the realm of possibility that there may be something causing interference in your area. That or your luck is just really bad.
johnny304I will have an opportunity to try the speakers in the middle of the woods in a few weeks. I'll try that.
But I have a sony bluetooth speaker which just works perfectly. Always has. What could be so different?
Levi8thanI had a pixel XL and it had difficulties with other bluetooth speakers, its the phone, it has a terrible bluetooth connection. Sometimes turning WiFi off helps, but overall there isn't much you can do.
