I'm extremely disappointed with this drive. I just recieved it a few weeks ago and when I went to use it this week, it tells me it's write protected. A write protected usb-drive?! Apparently, it's a common issue with Corsair drives:

TomaCzarI too have run into this issue along with a just as serious issue..... All my data is gone and the drive could only format in Windows as 32GB drive. This of course is a 128GB model. Thankfully the SD Card Utility mentioned in those forum threads fixed it for me, but now I can't flash in Windows to regular FAT partition types, only ExFAT and NTFS.
I'll have to format it again using a third party tool for Windows or GParted I would imagine. Here is the SD Card flashing utility if others are stuck: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_windows/index.html

kevinf63I did try the SD Card utility to no avail. Ultimately, I had to go through the Corsair RMA process. The bad news is that it cost me $15.00 in S&H and a little bit more time and additional hassle.
The good news is that I received a brand new model B (CMFVYGS3B-128GB vs CMFVYGS3-128GB) in the mail today. The newer model boasts modest gains in read speed and a significant increase in write speed. I have to say, I prefer the look of the original model over the newer model, however I'll take the performance bump over aesthetics any day.
Now, I just hope I can get more than a few hours use out of it before it goes wonky.
