Was there also a DE-layout? (german layout) if so I'd need to defently request this
If this drop happens again I wish it would be MX Speed switches instead of the MX Brown switches. If so I would consider to buy one
Question Massdrop Community: What makes the k95 Platinum better than the previous k95, the one with like 18 macros? Forgive me for any ignorance.
I just bough this keyboard this exact model with the brown switches and I would recommend it for any gamer who also types a lot! Currently this is a very fair price for this exact model too. There are other models with the cherry mx silver switches which are the speed switch but aren't recommended if you do a lot of typing but not to say you can't type on them. The RGB lighting is top notch, usb pass thru great, profile memory a plus, and great build quality. I read someone complaining about it not having a removable cord. It's a heavy duty braided cable with a USB 3.0 upstream cable built in that's why it's not removable and so heavy duty. This wasn't designed to be extremely portable but for performance and durability. Not everyone will like corsair just like some don't care for razer or cool master. I'm just saying you aren't getting a POS when purchasing this keyboard. Would recommend that you and purchase again. Thank you Massdrop!!!
I feel like at this price point it should have a replaceable Cable... I've had one fail in the past and instead of replacing the cable I had to buy a whole new keyboard. Also transporting becomes a hassle. It's a lot easier to take a keyboard and leave a cable if you can buy an extra. For almost $200 I'm disappointed, I don't care about anything else on the keyboard because it doesn't have such a, what I feel in today's world of Keyboards, basic feature.
I bought the gunmetal version with cherry MX speed switches on sale for amazon for about 175$ and honestly I love this keyboard and is was worth it. Going from a cheap 15$ keyboard vs this one by corsair it made all the difference especially in gaming but has also helped me type allot better. Plus I bought the corsair glave aluminum and the aluminum dual sides mouse pad from corsair as well. I love corsair for their quality.

Check out any keyboard on mechanicalkeyboards.com especially Leopold and Ducky. You can get much better quality build and keycaps for much cheaper, Corsair is very overpriced for the quality of the keyboard you get. Also check out the Mech Keys community on here they offer all better brands than Corsair.
There are few different models of this keyboard being offered on Amazon & Newegg
$174.99 = K95 RGB Platinum Cherry MX Speed Switches https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-PLATINUM-Mechanical-Keyboard-CH-9127014-NA/dp/B01N5IISXY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1508693938&sr=8-3&keywords=Corsair+Gaming+K95+RGB+Platinum+Keyboard
$199.99 = K95 RGB Platinum Cherry MX Brown Switches https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-PLATINUM-Mechanical-Keyboard-CH-9127012-NA/dp/B01MS0I1ZK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1508693938&sr=8-5&keywords=Corsair+Gaming+K95+RGB+Platinum+Keyboard
The same scenario can be found on Newegg....
$169.99 = K95 RGB Platinum Cherry MX Speed Switches https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16823816086
$199.99 = K95 RGB Platinum Cheery MX Brown Switches https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16823816088
We are offering the Cherry MX Browns here and the model number is CH-9127012-NA which everyone is selling for $199.99 and we are selling for $179.99. I have added that model number to the drop to reduce confusion, sorry about that.
Cheers.

No problem. :)

You should look at those prices right now. If you would have waited, the Cherry MX Brown are 10$ cheaper than your price.
I really suggest everyone to headover to mechanical kb community instead of buying this.
Same keyboard is 174.99, on amazon, and you can have it in the next two days for free if you have prime. horrible drop. It’s not a deal, it’s a ripoff of the customers.
RobertK
this appears to not be the same keyboard, see discussion above, with B.Hutch
I don't see a deal here. Even outside corrupt USA version with MX brown can be found cheaper. Mass drop become a common retail shop.
You cant get it for under$200 right now. Corsair had it on their website for like $30 off but not anymore.Right now $180 is a good price
Just bought this a day before the drop landed!!!!figures!
is this a UK or a USA version keyboard
Seems like a bad deal. This keyboard is often $170 at Amazon or Newegg, even Newegg on eBay.
HisDivineOrder
Just about to say the same.
i own a RGB K70! Amazing keyboard
Hey look, the corsair blackwidow
whomad1215
exactly, Corsair gave up on pretty much the only difference between k95 and blackwidow - the extra macro buttons.
I recently bought this keyboard for $149 at Fry's.
Well I have been quiet the whole time, checking the drop etc.. Now I just went to Amazon & it is 169.99 for the board with Brown Switches....I have Prime & with tax & all I'd be paying is about 3 to 4 dollars more & I'd get it earlier guaranteed... I wish now that I'd waited or I wish that I could atleast cancel this order to get it sooner but with Massdrops policies one cannot cancel their order once it has gone to the vendor for over a week now. Hope this helps someone... Thank you.......
7/20/2017 Edit: Looks like after I pointed out the better price everyone jumped on it! I'm glad someone did... Now I just got an update via email & for some reason the shipment here is being delayed even more. & get this in the email, now it says I can actually get a refund but...since it is out of stock everywhere now that is of no use unless it takes a whole month in which it very possibly could & if that does happen then the vendor & Massdrop must be running a full blown circus because this board here has been out all year long & ya we have all been waiting for the 19th & ya it is finally here, but the board?....Oh sorry there has been a unexpected delay. Honestly, This is absolutely irritating like poison ivy on the entire body. The cost of making this board shouldn't be that great of a deal & the production time should be spot on you'd think for Corsair Merch.. I guess we'll all have to wait & see & hope... Peace, thank you......
Since i own the K95 Platnum and am typing on ti right now. I will say that it is by far the best keyboard that i have ever owned hands down. However it is also the only mechanical keyboard that i have ever had. My typing speed and acuracy have both improoved over the stock HP and Microsoft keyboards that i have been using. The rgb backlighting is cool , however the software needs a little getting used to , the corsair forums are a great benefit for those learning to use the software and there are also profiles that can be downloaded.
It figures they would have tis a full three weeks after i bought one
I had an original K95 and the backlighting went out after owning it about a year. Corsair replaced it free of charge with a K95 RGB so great warranty service by Corsair. I gave it to my wife and got the K95 RGB Platinum with speed keys for $169.99 via amazon...I can't comment of brown switches but so far this is an amazing keyboard. I bought it for gaming, but it has actually improved my typing speed. If browns are what you like this should be a great purchase.
At least the aluminum seems to go all the way across the front unlike my old k95. That shit still irks me.
Jaspre
Lol it's only on front, on bottom you have plastic. It's not like K-Type.
Valium
I understand it's not entirely aluminum, I never said it was.
*edit* I did not do my homework correctly on this, i will hang my head in shame lol. Thank you all for the clarification.

QuantumHiker
i saw that item on new egg it was for the older K 95 not the k 95 platnum
It’s 175 on amazon
I'd order this board in a second if Corsair made a version with MX silent switches.

I think they're looking for the linear ones with built in dampening.
whomad1215
i bougth it and the switches dont klick (thats what i meant with silence) so no audio feedback but they are not silenced and with the aluminium keyboard its like hitting a bell everytime you hit a key fast. I think i am gonna buy the rubberrings to reduce noise.
I played with this keyboard in a store the other day, I was very surprised to see the price compared to the quality of it. Retail should be under $150 for this and I still wouldn't buy it.
I can't really go for any Keyboard nor full Keycap set from Massdrop.. I just wish they would give us uptions for different layouts.. (QWERTZ - German) would be what i need.. our enter key is shaped differently and we got a different ammount of keys on the board.. would look pretty weird if i'd put a QWERTY set on my QWERTZ keyboard If this drop would have options for a different language layout i would have went in immediately
e.xo
Get a Cooler Master Maaterkeys Pro. They come in various sizes, are compatible with all keycap sets (unlike Corsair keyboards) and are not terribly overpriced (also unlike Corsair keyboards). Best of all, I think they come in QWERTZ as well.
Would have joined if they had the option for speed switches...

Black with Speeds in 170 and Gunmetal is 200
the K 95 platnum is also availiable with the speed switches
Don't buy Corsair keyboards. They are very overpriced for the quality of the build and keycaps. Check out MechanicalKeyboards.com for some cheaper much higher quality boards, namely Leopold, Ducky, and even CoolerMaster. Also the Community of "Mech Keyboards'' here has some great deals on some much nicer keyboards. I used to own a Corsair and even buying a MagicForce 68 which was $50 really showed me how big a difference keycaps and build quality can make. If you MUST have RGB then Ducky and CoolerMaster, as well as many other brands, make great keyboards. If you can live without RGB then I personally recommend Leopold. They are amazing boards with the best feeling keycaps and typing experience I have ever used.

you cant swap keycaps with a corsair board. the nonstandard bottom row doesn't allow for that. sure every other row could be swapped but it would look dumb with the bottom row sticking out.
The switches are always going to be the same but it matters very much the plate they are set in and how they are seated along with the rest of the case quality and build that very much effects how typing feels on a keyboard. Even typing with replaced keycaps on a Corsair will feel very cheap compared to a well built keyboard like from Leopold. Topre RGB also is the first full size topre board with lighting and customizable actuation, a feature you can only get on this board. Buying any other Realfrorce or HHKB board is around the same price so it's actually a good deal for the features. Topre is always more expensive but worth it to people like me who prefer it over any other switch because it feels so unique.
Why the hell did Corsair cut down macro buttons from 18 to just 6? It's pretty much the same as K70 now.

lol, I actually use the 18 macro buttons on k95 as a gamepad of sorts, find that a lot more convenient than wasd. They are also extremely well suited for productivity applications, assigning specific actions that require multiple keypresses to them is a major time saver. That's why I'm pissed Corsair is not doing that any more.
Anzial
Oh of course, if you're not talking about solely gaming, having a massive macro bank is a lifesaver. Video editing is a hobby of mine and I can't count how many shortcuts I have and the insane keybinds drive me mad. having a lot of macros for that would be a nice timesaver.
Having the option to have the larger macro bank r the more gamer oriented 'slim' one would be a nice idea, but not probable.
