Got my Admiral's Cup "delivered" today, the mailman just left the box outside of my door while it's raining...thanks Canada Post. On a positive note they didn't charge me import taxes, which I calculated to be ~400CAD, guess that's a worthwhile trade off.
Speaking of the watch itself, as someone who's never owned a watch that retails more than 1k, I'm very impressed with the build quality. I got the A984 model, and I can say that pictures on Massdrop does not do it justice. Under indoor lighting conditions, it gives off a creamy-yellowish colour, and in daylight it shows a more whitish tint. When you tilt the watch at a certain angle the dial gives off this really cool interlaced effect. Attached some pictures below to show what I mean.

Another thing I found out while doing research is that this model is COSC certified. If you check the COSC annual report, Corum stopped sending their watches to the institution in 2015, so their newer models do not have the certification. This was one of the main reasons why I pulled the trigger on this purchase. Unfortunately the COSC certificate did not come with the watch, so there is no way to validate this claim (aside from a small section of the user manual talking about it).
Overall I'm pretty satisfied. The watch does look a bit too big on my puny wrist, so I'll most likely only wear this for special occasions, or just loan it to my dad so he can play with it for a bit :)

You know, it never fails--whenever I look at my watch to check the date, the damn minute hand is always covering the little window! Mine is at the three o'clock position, I'm wondering if they've moved this date to the 4:30 position to solve that problem?

Price is awesome, I would like to buy if other color options were available. ETA 2894-2 costs 1400 dolars standalone.

KakalukyaWhich in comparison makes the Core i9-7900X 10-Core @3.3GHz look cheap at a mere usd1050.

This watch is kind of like AP watches. It's okay, but the style is too obnoxious for my taste. If i am capable of afford this watch, I would save some more for other ones

I'm curious what appeals to the buyers so far, if you're buying to own. Or are folks buying to flip?

Uh no thanks. Not an objectively bad watch, but these reviews really put me off of a watch I was already on the “out” side of the fence for. Do you get paid to write them?

KboneJust reporting what I found from internet searches on watch brand tiers/hierarchy and price comparisonson this particular watch. I found the information helpful to me in my purchase and wanted to share it with others who might be interested. I really didn't do a "review" on the watch but shared my modest web search. As far as my description of this model being a "classy execution" of Corum's Admiral's Cup watch, it was my way of saying it isn't "sporty" execution like the Admiral Cup models with brightly colored signal pennants. No, I don't get paid. My post simply shared my findings and expressed my opinion. You decided the watch wasn't for you. That's OK. I don't think my search or opinion made any difference to you anyway. All things said I can't find much here to "put" you off or made you to think I was paid. Remember, the original post was, " I'm curious what appeals to the buyers so far, if you're buying to own. Or are folks buying to flip?"
