Mine arrived today, and I immediately ran a series of test operations.
Missions 1: Retrieve my backpack from the chair from across the room. My initial throw was a horrible miss, as I have no idea how to properly launch a grappling hook (Yet). On the third try I managed to actually hit the backpack, but it bounced off harmlessly. On the fourth try I managed to get a grasp on some random strap, and the hook performed it's job admirably.
Mission 2: Retrieve my gym bag from the open closet. With the aiming experience I had acquired from the first mission, I managed to get a successful grapple on my second throw. Again, the hook fulfilled it's function.
Mission 3: The final mission. Retrieving one of those reusable grocery bags filled with my work clothes and equipment. I landed a proper grapple on my second try, and began pulling the bag towards me. However, the hook repeatedly got caught in the carpet, requiring some vigorous shaking of the rope to dislodge it. In the end, the bag safely arrived at my feet.
It's great, it feels sturdy, and the limbs screw in far enough to make me not worry about them snapping off. I definitely wouldn't try to support my own weight with it, but it can definitely be used to pull objects to yourself, or to hang things from trees.
Only issue is far is that the spikes get caught on the carpeting, but that's hardly the hook's fault.
