Just found this the day after I received my Crazyflie:

Damn I feel naive... the first link was announced the 23rd of June. Not saying the deal on Massdrop is a ripoff; This is still a good discount from the price on the proprietor's site, but with new hardware JUST around the corner (solder-less model too :-\ ) I feel these were knowingly pawned off on impulsive buyers who, in their excitement, forgot to do a little googling and wound up buying a "stepping-stone" product. Just thought I'd post this to inform anyone who feels they missed out or is thinking of putting in a vote for another drop on this product.
Also, I want to express that I'm not trying to insult anyone at Massdrop; I blame myself for not researching this more thoroughly. I appreciate the efforts of all staff and members who work hard to bring us great deals on amazing products! Consider this post an informative heads up to protect other potential buyers from suffering my mistake/disappointment.

dreamsindigitalHi @dreamsindigital,
Thanks for your feedback. I took a look at the post as well, and it doesn't give an ETA on the 2.0, but it looks like they will continue supporting the legacy hardware with compatible firmware on both versions. I hope that helps.
Cheers,
Andy

andyIn the "responses" section for the first post I linked to someone states that it will arrive Q4 2014. This post appeared to be coming from one of the developers as I could swear his profile pic was one of the same faces I saw in some video posted on the Bitcraze site. His post name is "Marcus".
I agree with you that it's nice to see them supporting legacy hardware, but what I (as well as other tech savvy Massdropers) would really benefit from is the extra payload capacity. It is stated to be between 2-4 times v1 power. This alone opens up many more possibilities such as carrying a larger battery, more flexibility when choosing a camera/transmitter for FPV, or just better all around agility due to the extra power. A close second to this in my opinion would be that they are including Bluetooth 4.0 LE AS WELL AS an improved version of the current crazyradio that has a signal amplifier for substantially better range especially when used indoors around various structures/materials.
OK... I'll stop now... I'm not trying to troll or spoil this drop for the community ;)

dreamsindigitalCool! It's great that they are still iterating, that means they are growing as a company and we hope to list their new products. But if people want the current Crazyflie we can help with that :).
I'm sure you've also had the experience of buying a graphics card only to find out that there is a new one coming out. Do you buy now or wait and never buy it?
How do you like it btw?

dreamsindigitalI bought another V1 even after the announcement because honestly, crazyflie is pretty cool. I'll probably get a few of the V2 ones as well.
