The Aurvana headphones are quite decent. I know nothing about the DAC, Creative is not famous for this kind of product.
This is NOT a drop for "Creative Aurvana Live! + Sound Blaster E1 Combo" as the title may lead one to believe.
This is a drop for for "Creative Aurvana Live!" only.
It's the first time I see Massdrop presenting a drop in such a misleading way. I wonder how many people didn't notice this and just committed, thinking they'll get both the headphones and the amp/dac for $60
Not cool.
$69cad-incl free shipping- on Amazon.ca, plus I'll have them in 2 days. Thanks for another ice cold deal MD.

You Canadians are so nice!
They were worth every penny at 79.99 when I got mine, so 54.99 is a steal. They headphones are so efficient you don't need an amp. They aren't super bass or the smoothest, but at the price they outperform most headphones twice their price. Feed them a clean source and you will enjoy the music. Mine are in storage since I have other higher end phones with more fun at bass or treble, but this is a great all-rounder for those that want great sound but cant throw 200+ at cans.
These headphones are absolutely incredible for the money. The build quality could be better but everything else is awesome. They are really good for gaming if you just want to enjoy the game. They work with almost any music genre. Also these have the same drivers as the discontinued Denon AH-D1001! They are my first proper headphone (besides cheap disposable ones) and even though I own a Emu-Teak and Shure-535 I still use it to this day if I want light, quick comfort with an enjoyable sound signature.
Wish I had the funds when this was active, would have bought it in an instant. Think we can get the 20 more requests needed to bring it back?
I got them today, from the short time that I've tried them, they are far better than all of my cheaper IEMs for sure, but they don't sound very good with metal. Also something is lacking, I can't explain it, it's not overwhelming like I hoped it would be. Might need some burn in.
The amp was probably a waste of money, I can't hear much of a difference with or without, it sure does make everything louder but I don't need that with my current gear... I might sell it.
i am not at got my Creative Aurvana Live! + Sound Blaster E1 Combo
So far I'm liking the cans, the dac/amp if used as a usb audio device isn't the best, it maxes out at 44100 hz. I'm running mine through a Sound Blaster Audigy x2 then through the dac/amp and don't have any complaints. Yeah, the ear cups are a bit small but are comfortable. After about 10 hours of use this weekend I don't have any complaints. Also, the battery life on the dac/amp is pretty good, after 6 hours of use they didn't need a charge.
My package is still in the US after 10 days, man DHL is pretty sucky.

My package arrived in Australia on the 9th, and was delivered today (13th).
I only purchased the headphones, not the DAC.
Quick impressions: The cable is a little short for desktop/home use, if your amp/source isn't fairly close the included extension cable will probably be required.
The ear-cups are very much on the small side, at first I thought they were so small they would effectively be on-ear rather than over-ear. With a little wriggling they did just fit around my ears, but the pads are probably in contact with my earlobes much of the way around.
They're lightweight. Build quality is a little flimsy and plasticy in comparison to my larger (and more expensive) full size phones, but that was to be expected.
Did some quick A/B testing against some more expensive phones (AKG 553, 712, DT880) and they held up reasonably well (bear in mind my current source is just on board mb audio line out to an old stereo amp). They do sometimes sound a little muffled by comparison to the more expensive phones, but the one difference that really stood out was the bass. It was noticeably emphasized on the Aurvana compared to the other phones and I found it overly boomy.
Some of that bass boom may have been caused by the way my ears were stuffed into the small earcups though, it would be interesting to try a larger set of earpads on them.
Got mine. Haven't really played with the DAC, but I'm sure it'll work fine for the two uses I need it for: dual headphone output from my scanner at IndyCar races, and to add a play/pause button to the headphones I use while mowing the yard.
As for the CAL!, I'm quite impressed. I do find myself liking the sound. I think I may try the HM5 pads for a bit more isolation.
I know the CAL! has quite the mod community, but suggestions for the headphone (some of which were addressed in CAL!2: 1) A fabric covered cable with a remote/mic on the left ear cable. I know the new one has a detachable with a button. I've just gotten so used to the play/pause button that I miss it. 2) Perhaps a bit more padding up top. 3) Earcups that rotate flat. I know there are mods you can do to get this.
But overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. I joined this drop mainly for the DAC, but was curious about the headphones. They may be my new set that I use at work.
Received mine in the mail the other day. Having a bit of buyer's remorse, though. Next time, skip the cheap DAC and spend the extra money on a better pair of headphones. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Any update?
Dang.. how did i miss this... i swear was this only up for like a day?
SuicideBeta
I think it was up for a little over a week.
So since we got another 20 buyers, why not drop the price by another 4 bucks?
I just saw this drop and I was a minute late :(
We did it!
I just flipped from a commit to a join. I figured $7 wasn't all that much, and it'll likely wind up with 40 people by tomorrow. If not, if 4 people swap, it'll save another $3. I'd be mad if I missed this deal over $4 or $7.
oryan_dunn
Doing the same. Now if 3 people swap we'll save another $3.
Miscience
Swapped over too, hopefully we get a few more buyers.
Can we get to $52 if the current commits will stay to the end? It's a win for everyone.
If I purchase them now and th drop doesn't reach 10 buyers will the drop fail? Will I get them anyway?
jooohny2070
I wonder that too, 7 USD isn't that big of a difference really.
Are these haeadphones any good? I want them for gaming and music (mostly rock) and does the E1 worth the extra 32 bucks?
jooohny2070
These are closed and a little warm: They should make good gaming and rock headphones. The E1 will be an improvement over your phone, mp3 player, or a laptop sound card. A desktop sound card might be a harder sell but could be worth it if your card is pretty cheap. These headphones don't need an amp to sound good but it does help noticeably if you switch back and forth.
Is the amp worth it?
Tenryuu
yes it is and you can plug 2 headphones with it
I only wanted the E1's. I'm not buy the cans just to get it.

Yeah this was my thoughts, really just want the darn dac. I could use a good headset for working out. Would the Aurvana be a good for that?
Chairman_Wang
You'll probably soak it in sweat.
They look soo goood
Would this amp make a difference (say compared to motherboard or phone) with these headphones?
