The Aurvana headphones are quite decent. I know nothing about the DAC, Creative is not famous for this kind of product.

It's the first time I see Massdrop presenting a drop in such a misleading way. I wonder how many people didn't notice this and just committed, thinking they'll get both the headphones and the amp/dac for $60

They were worth every penny at 79.99 when I got mine, so 54.99 is a steal. They headphones are so efficient you don't need an amp. They aren't super bass or the smoothest, but at the price they outperform most headphones twice their price. Feed them a clean source and you will enjoy the music. Mine are in storage since I have other higher end phones with more fun at bass or treble, but this is a great all-rounder for those that want great sound but cant throw 200+ at cans.

These headphones are absolutely incredible for the money. The build quality could be better but everything else is awesome. They are really good for gaming if you just want to enjoy the game. They work with almost any music genre. Also these have the same drivers as the discontinued Denon AH-D1001! They are my first proper headphone (besides cheap disposable ones) and even though I own a Emu-Teak and Shure-535 I still use it to this day if I want light, quick comfort with an enjoyable sound signature.

I got them today, from the short time that I've tried them, they are far better than all of my cheaper IEMs for sure, but they don't sound very good with metal. Also something is lacking, I can't explain it, it's not overwhelming like I hoped it would be. Might need some burn in.
The amp was probably a waste of money, I can't hear much of a difference with or without, it sure does make everything louder but I don't need that with my current gear... I might sell it.

So far I'm liking the cans, the dac/amp if used as a usb audio device isn't the best, it maxes out at 44100 hz. I'm running mine through a Sound Blaster Audigy x2 then through the dac/amp and don't have any complaints. Yeah, the ear cups are a bit small but are comfortable. After about 10 hours of use this weekend I don't have any complaints. Also, the battery life on the dac/amp is pretty good, after 6 hours of use they didn't need a charge.

I only purchased the headphones, not the DAC.
Quick impressions: The cable is a little short for desktop/home use, if your amp/source isn't fairly close the included extension cable will probably be required.
The ear-cups are very much on the small side, at first I thought they were so small they would effectively be on-ear rather than over-ear. With a little wriggling they did just fit around my ears, but the pads are probably in contact with my earlobes much of the way around.
They're lightweight. Build quality is a little flimsy and plasticy in comparison to my larger (and more expensive) full size phones, but that was to be expected.
Did some quick A/B testing against some more expensive phones (AKG 553, 712, DT880) and they held up reasonably well (bear in mind my current source is just on board mb audio line out to an old stereo amp). They do sometimes sound a little muffled by comparison to the more expensive phones, but the one difference that really stood out was the bass. It was noticeably emphasized on the Aurvana compared to the other phones and I found it overly boomy.
Some of that bass boom may have been caused by the way my ears were stuffed into the small earcups though, it would be interesting to try a larger set of earpads on them.
