Someone else mentioned the horrible software, hit my grievances square on the head. If I restart my computer, or if the computer goes into sleep mode, I also have to manually restart the Sound Blaster in order to get it to work.
The battery on the amp does not last long enough to make it useful as a portable charger/amplify.
Not a big fan of this drop.

WurdleHi wurdle,
You should be getting a solid amount of time as an amp with the e5. Are you updated to the latest firmware? We made some changes to charging and consumption there based on user feedback and also on working around some of the Android OS behaviors.
I'd love to get more feedback from you on the software as well so if you get a moment please send me a mail at socialmedia@creativelabs.com.

WurdleI got my E5 from a drop 2 years ago and I've been using it everyday since. No issues.
I used to use it on my old gaming rig (Windows 7, 4790k Haswell) and switched it over to my new rig (Windows 10, 7700k Kaby Lake) when I upgraded earlier this year and I never had any issues with reboot/sleep/hibernate. I just leave it plugged in via USB and don't even bother turning it off. Not a single problem.
I also used it with the iPhones i used over the years (6+, 6S+, 7+) and an iPod touch - all connected via lighting cable - and didn't get any battery issues either. I used it while driving around from one end of Singapore to the other and it lasted me the entire day.
TBH, I'm thinking of joining the drop (that's why I'm here in the comments section) because the rubber back of my E5 has scuffs from all the usage. The only reason I haven't joined yet is because other than the scuffs, it still works as great as it did on day one. Still trying to ask myself if it's worth it to to spend $155 just to get a prettier one. LOL
Perhaps you got a defective unit?
