I'm trying to use the x7 with a separate headphone and Mic on ps4. I've tried plugging in the mic into the ps4 directly while using the optical into the x7 but the problem is I can't hear the game chat . What do I need to buy to make this work?

Jeremy.yukthe image below is from the MLE headphone gaming guide. According to that you need the Creative BT-W2 USB dongle connected to your PS4. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-3-18-2016-mrspeakers-ether-c-1-1-added.534479/

Jeremy.yukWhat kind of mic are you using? I use an AT 2020 USB mic that I have a 3.5 mm cable from the mic plugged into a y splitter. One side for headphone and one side for mic. Then plug the end of the splitter in the X7 and you should be able to hear the chat as well as good mic monitoring

deekuewouldnt you want to only do input bluetooth so microphone gets sent over bluetooth and set output to optical instead of bluetooth so you dont have optical connected for no reason....

suppliceGame audio goes over the optical link in Bitstream(Dolby), the X7 can then do it's SBX virtual headphone surround processing. Chat audio goes over Bluetooth. This lets you control game and chat audio independently.

deekueyes thats basically what i said. the diagram says to put both input AND output to bluetooth; that would mean you are not using optical at all. you output it through optical not bluetooth.

supplicenot quite. Game audio is output only. It goes over optical. Chat audio is input & output. Both of those go over Bluetooth.
