So I know nothing about the audio world, but I can definitely differentiate between good audio and bad audio. Basically I need help knowing if I need this or not. I only have a Logitech Z623 speaker system and a Audio-Technica ATH-M50X. If I was to buy this it would be mainly for PC gaming and watching movies. I had my heart set on getting the Creative Sound Blaster ZxR because it is one of the best sound cards out right now. My questions are... Would the X7 achieve or do more of what that sound card would provide for my PC? Would I need a sound card to operate this with my PC? Would combining this with the sound card provide even better audio? These questions may sound silly to the educated, but I am obviously ignorant haha. I just want the best for my newly built PC. :'o Also I can hook both my headphones and speaker system to this at the same time right? o.o

ErikJonesthe X7 would do all the same sound enhancements as the ZxR on the software side, along with the added functionality of being able to control these things with your smartphone app, and probably sound better since it's external to the computer case as the Zx i have myself generates some noise for being in close contact with my other pc components.
You do not need a soundcard to use this with your pc, just plug it into the usb.
I can argue that if you combine a soundcard with a external pure DAC would help improve your experience as i am doing that right now (my Zx soundcard does the sound-processing as my Musiland Monitor02 DAC converts it to analog), but as the X7 does all the sound-processing in itself, combining won't do much.

xReinThank you for replying! I'm glad to hear I don't really need shell out for a sound card too. Looks like I'm hopping on board for this one. ;'3
xReinWell, the soundcard CAN'T decode Dolby DDL surround from game consoles, but the X7 CAN. Though the ZxR has an optical input, that can only understand stereo PCM input because of licensing issues.
