Getting constant clicking sound and static from my right speaker after being hooked up to the X7. My Corsair SP2500 speakers were flawless when hooked up with the considerably cheaper Sound Blaster 5.1 Omni sound card. This clicking sound is super annoying. Updated drivers and firmware. Turned off all other audio sources. Clicking remains.

XialonAre you still having issues with your unit? I've been looking at the X7 LE for my PS4, but I'm skeptical now. I might just keep my Schiit MM2U connected.

KTMDNot anymore, no. The problem was fixed when I moved my X7 from USB 2.0 to a USB 3.0...so, you won't have that issue. Since the X7 worked perfectly fine for me when hooked up with an optical cable. Was able to hook up my PS4, computer (SP2500 speakers) and headphones (Senn HD600 and Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro) all in one go and control the volume with my phone.

XialonAwesome, thank you. How is it with your PS4? I've been reading reviews on headfi and really want to jump on this.

KTMDNo complaints whatsoever. Pretty easy to set up. Very nice that I can switch between my SP2500 speaker set up for loud action packed games...or switch to my high end headphones whenever I please. Having a phone controlling volume makes it easy since you don't have to be next to the X7 to adjust anything. You can sit back and relax.
However, know that when you have your computer and PS4 hooked up to your X7 with various audio outputs...then both the computer and the PS4 will output sound at the same time. Good thing or bad thing, up to you.
Downside is that I don't think a mic will work though the X7. Meaning if you have a gaming headset plugged into the X7 with a dedicated mic 3.5mm jack, the mic won't work on the PS4. Not 100% sure on that, but according to other reviews, it doesn't work.
All I have to say is that the initial set up of the X7 with the various settings in the application (phone or computer) and hooking up all the right stuff in the right way....was a real annoyance. Took awhile to sort it all out. But in the end, I'm happy with my purchase.

XialonTotally makes sense. Because of you, I definitely will jump on the next drop for the LE. What I couldn't find out were the preamps. If they were active or passive, they seem passive though as to how you were using SP2500s. I'm trying to hook up KRK 8s to them, so I think it'll work out. For the mic it seems like the workaround would be to use the Antlion mic. I have DT880s, so I think it should be perfect since it doesn't stray too far from the 990s.
Final question. Does it work with DSD and Dolby? With Schiit it gets static because those formats aren't supported.

KTMDIf you're using active speakers, just hook them up to the X7 with regular RCA left-right cables and keep the X7 at 4 ohms. You're good to go. With passive speakers, you are going to have to look at the ohm rating on them. At 6 ohms and above, switch to the 8 ohm side of the X7.
When you hook up the X7 via the optical cable which "Direct Mode (SPDIF-In): Direct mode allows bit-to-bit input stream of up to 24-bit 96khz signals without processing. When turned on, other audio input sources will be disabled."
Furthermore, according to the Creative website: If Dolby Digital signal is detected, the Sound Blaster X7 is able to decode it. It will display a solid white LED on the Dolby Digital indicator.

XialonI had the same issue and what fixed it for me was that I had to use a USB 2.0 port. The clicking happens when I plugged in a 3.0 port. Give that a try

JT3RDIt was opposite for me. I switched from 2.0 to 3.0 and the clicking stopped. Odd, hunh?
XialonJust to point out, this drop includes Creative's Bluetooth dongle which WOULD allow you to use a dedicated mic or integrated headset with PS4+X7. I don't have the dongle myself, but everyone who does likes it, and I wish I had one.
XialonXialon beat me to the punch in responding. Great job!
To be clear though while Dolby IS supported DSD is not supported at this time.
