rhenomYep, I see where you are coming from with this. The Katana is really designed to deliver a full fledged audio experience in a compact design as well as to provide audio processing / bluetooth capability in the same form factor...making it a space saving all-in-one without sacrificing quality.
If you've got the desktop space and want to "spread out" a bit...an X7 with great bookshelf speakers is going to be gorgeous in sound as well.
One potentially big difference is in bass. The Katana has a dedicated / powered sub that delivers some pretty serious bass.
I supply them sound via a Sound Blaster X7 so I can't really justify this purchase...unless I convert the F5's to my TV area and put the Katana on my desk, hmm...
