Product Description
Originally trained as a jeweler and watchmaker, Matthew Lerch understands the precision behind tools, instruments, and of course, knives. The Directive is a display of that attention to detail, and while it’s not ostentatious by any means, its highly functional design can tackle anything from opening packages to cutting rope and piercing cans Read More

“Tactically Inspired Blade” - What does that even mean? 🤷🏻‍♂️
A blade inspired by equipment supplied to the Armed Forces? I don’t know. I wish knife collectors and the EDC community would stop using “Tactical” for everything. It makes reasonable folks sound like crazed ‘preppers‘.
Inigo Montoya - “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” 😄

Do your research Massdrop. The Directive is a groaner knife. Find us some quality knives at good prices. Not a knife with a pivot hole in the blade larger than the pivot supported by small washers and a messed up choil design.

Like most crkt knives interesting design with terrible steel. They keep saying they use bad steel to keep the price down but other companies offer better steel at the same price. Ontario Knife Company offers the rat 1 and 2 in D2 and LA Police Gear has a $35 s35vn knife that's actually on sale right now for $32.99. Don't forget about the Chinese companies popping up offering better knives for less money. It feels like crkt depends on consumer ignorance to sell knives. Even Kershaw offers some models in better steel. Would be cool if they actually followed the Kai model of having the budget Kershaw line as well as the high end ZT knives.

sheffieldsgI second the wish for CRKT to start a higher end line like Zero Tolerance. But I wouldn't call 8Cr14MoV bad or terrible. More like serviceable. Good enough for people who EDC but only use it for light duty.

A more competitive price and I'd really consider this, it's quite handsome.

I love the look of that reverse tanto sheepsfoot blade. If I get it, though, it'll be from Amazon. Sorry, MD, they've got you beat on price *and* shipping on this one.

Signed up for the Tanto blade... I like it, sort of a reverse-tanto/sheepsfoot hybrid... like nothing else in my knife drawer :) let's hope the $29.99 commitments meet the goal!
