I picked up a cheapo Chinese version of this knife last summer for around $5 and it just broke on me yesterday while I was doing some yard work. Is the quality of the materials good enough to justify the higher price?

DaBeesKneesDon't know this model, but CRKT knives are generally very nice and have a lifetime warrantee...

ISKI would say the blade does not chip or break, but the cutting edge requires frequent sharping. It holds pretty good to the abuse, but the edge becomes dull very very fast (probably caused by the rather large edge angle). If you are okay with sharping it, it is a good knife.
