I am curious why the sensitivity is so high while these have relatively low impedance. In my experience this generally leads to faint hiss on all but the cleanest of sources, but I cannot say this applies to these ciems.

RoughingtonPrimarily because these aren't really designed for consumer listening. They're designed more for professional musicians on stage, sourced with a battery powered wireless receiver that can't output much power (they have to last 8 hours on a charge and power a wireless connection, meaning less power they require to drive, the better). So 1) typically those battery powered wireless receivers are typically very clean and 2) very faint hiss isn't a big deal to musicians on stage.
Now that doesn't mean you can't use them for personal consumer music listening, it's just not what they're designed for. they sound very good, but you should buy understanding their intended usage scenario and the limitations it has.
