Why do some of the images show two knives of nearly the same length? The second knife is sometimes shown almost as long as the 8” chef’s knife, while in other images it appears to be about half the blade length (thus a 4” paring knife).

GraydogBecause sloppy lazy photoshop collages and zero accountability when it comes to misrepresenting products 🙄
They gotta learn to be more careful with that stuff, before people start calling false advertisement claims

KavikJust now noticed this drop. Kavik, I appreciated your knowledge and experience based comments on the TOG culinary knife drop. I’m looking for a quality (I realize that’s a vague expression) paring knife. Can you make a recommendation ?? I noticed and really like the California Custom Utility Paring Knife, previously offered by MD; they’re still available through the knife maker, but memory tells me they’re around $380. And epic stretch for me to pay that, but I would, assuming it’s an heirloom quality knife that I’d be wildly thankful for, every time I picked it up. I think they were around $230, via MD. Anyway, any suggestions?? I realize the question is potentially broud and overly general. In Gratitude ! onefreeman

OnefreemanI'm flattered, but not sure I'm really the best person for recommendations on that type of knife, especially if you're looking for something in that price range I currently use a Tojiro DP 120mm petty or a Tojiro DP 70mm hawkbill, both in laminated VG10, nothing fancy, under $50 apiece I have this fancy Konosuke Fujiyama 120mm petty, it's an incredible blade, but it's hardly seen any use as i got sidetracked in my millions of projects. Runs about $200, but I got a crazy deal on the blade only....and a couple years later I still haven't finished the final touches on this damn handle lol (made the tang slot too big, don't really want to commit to epoxying it in place)

Handle I made is thuya burl and buffalo horn If you don't mind non stainless, and IF you can find one, I'd heartily recommend this knife.... But really, that's the extent of my experience with high end petty/paring knives You could try asking around on www.kitchenknifeforums.com I've seen lots of good advice there on higher end stuff

Kavik Cool, thanks!! I was reflecting on my wording; at $380, or something of the sort, I couldn’t go for it. At the roughly $230, M.D. price, I could take a big deep breath, a long exhale, go for it, and take damn good care of the knife, but not at the higher price. Very pretty petty knife; lovely ! I’m totally fine, with non stainless, too.. I’ll check out the forum ! Thank you, much ! ☀️👍🏻 !

OnefreemanThank you :) I really gotta just get on with finishing it up, it's ridiculous how long it's been sitting in its box lol I misremembered...have you the wrong link. Not that there's anything wrong with that forum either, but www.cheftalk.com is the one I was originally thinking of. You should check them both out Best of luck in your search!
