I have a couple of ammo pouch straps and can appreciate the history and the vintage leather vs the newer stuff. Questions on this drop:
- The light/med appear almost identical and the dark not so dark. Are the colors in the photo accurate/representation of the colors (realizing that they will vary slightly due to the specific pouch used) - Any chance of getting a brushed buckle option? or maybe an upcharge to a more substantial appearing buckle (I imagine those INOX buckles are going to look small on a 22 & 24 mm straps).... maybe an ARD buckle? - The straps appear to be straight (ie., same width at lug as at clasp). Can these be made with a "standard" 2mm taper? (ie., 2mm narrower at clasp). - One of the photos shows two keepers (one fixed, one presumably floating) while the listing states a single (presume fixed?) keeper. Is there any way to get two keepers? - The photo of the "light" strap appears to show a pretty long tail past the holes as compared to the other two colors (which appear more "standard"). What is the difference between those straps and what would we be getting? - How thick are these? The photos make them look pretty thin. - There aren't any photos of the back of the strap... are the backs raw? or is there a backing of some sort? - The leather in the photos look amazingly non-distressed... will the straps have stamps, carved initials, etc? I'm not wanting "extra" stitching/repairs/gouges/etc, but I would also be somewhat disappointed to get something that looks "brand new" with no vintage appearance at all. - The photos in your post show the strap on a Panarai... do these straps have the Panarai tube at the lug ends? The photos of the straps themselves make these look like the straps are intended for springbars.
Thanks

dasman Q: The light/med appear almost identical and the dark not so dark. Are the colors in the photo accurate/representation of the colors (realizing that they will vary slightly due to the specific pouch used)
A: You hit the nail on the head as these are merely broad representations of what you will receive per the light, medium or dark options. There is quite a bit of variance due to the limited nature of these ammo pouches. ------ Q: Any chance of getting a brushed buckle option? or maybe an up charge to a more substantial appearing buckle (I imagine those INOX buckles are going to look small on a 22 & 24 mm straps).... maybe an ARD buckle?
A: This drop is non-amendable at this time, but we always can accommodate these sort of needs through our website and made to order process. This drop was standardized as much as we could but still allowing for some customizations so the end user would have a custom tailored strap to their watch, wrist and needs. ------ Q: The straps appear to be straight (ie., same width at lug as at clasp). Can these be made with a "standard" 2mm taper? (ie., 2mm narrower at clasp).
A: Yes, on our website, no for this drop as this drop cannot be modified at this time. ----- Q: One of the photos shows two keepers (one fixed, one presumably floating) while the listing states a single (presume fixed?) keeper. Is there any way to get two keepers?
A: 1 floating keeper is included with this drop. After receiving your strap, you could send us a photo of the strap and we can do our best to match the leather that was used on your strap and send you out a 2nd keeper free of charge, to say thank you for adopting this 1st of its kind drop. Another option is email us as soon as the drop is over with the exact specs you choose and we can do our best to add a 2nd keeper to your strap. ----- Q: The photo of the "light" strap appears to show a pretty long tail past the holes as compared to the other two colors (which appear more "standard"). What is the difference between those straps and what would we be getting?
A: The length is something you can choose at checkout. 115mm/75mm is a standard OEM strap length. Unless you know you want extra "tail" or have a particularly small or large wrist, that is generally a safe size to choose. You can always try the next size up which gives you just a little "tail" which can look nice. ----- Q: How thick are these? The photos make them look pretty thin.
A: They vary from approx 2-3mm in thickness. We generally try to use the thinner pouches for 18mm and 20mm widths and the thicker ones for the 22mm and 24mm options as they will match the look of the watch better, but again there is no hard/fast rule with this as each varies. ----- Q: There aren't any photos of the back of the strap... are the backs raw? or is there a backing of some sort?
A: The backs are raw, they look wonderful and some even have a light ink stamp that was pressed into the back of many ammo pouches back in the 60s which add to the vintage aspect of each strap. Again, each is different so they will vary per strap, but this looks wonderful and by having less layers, it adds durability to the overall strap and build. We believe less is more, except more when it comes to customer service, then more service is best. ----- Q: The leather in the photos look amazingly non-distressed... will the straps have stamps, carved initials, etc? I'm not wanting "extra" stitching/repairs/gouges/etc, but I would also be somewhat disappointed to get something that looks "brand new" with no vintage appearance at all.
A: We offer fully distressed on our website that would include frayed original stitching, stamps and/or rivet holes, but we wanted and felt the need to standardize the process and look for this drop as many people might not be used to that extreme of a watch strap. We will do our best to keep these on the cleaner side with just a few markings to show they are vintage without being too over the top. We believe this is the best happy/medium for this drop. ----- Q: The photos in your post show the strap on a Panerai... do these straps have the Panerai tube at the lug ends? The photos of the straps themselves make these look like the straps are intended for spring bars.
A: We plan to leave the tubes out for this drop as many people might be using these with spring bars and we would not want the tubes to be used with spring bars so the safest method is to not include them. We can ship them out after the drop has ended or with the actual shipping if you or anybody else wanted to let us know via email after the drop has ended.
----- We hope this helps and we are here in case you need anything else.

DA-LUCAAppreciate the quick and detailed response.
Regarding the length question... I understand the different strap lengths, but typically the tail past the last hole is fairly standard, since the change in length is for varying wrist sizes. My comment was referencing the photo of the "light" strap, which shows a longer tail *after* the holes. Meaning that the tail sticks out further past the keeper.

dasmanWe generally punch the holes around the same area unless the strap is extra long, then we shift the holes down the strap, accordingly. I hope this helps and makes sense.
Lots of time, we are going off of the specs of our customers and their custom placed orders.
