Loving my Darkvoice. The bass on this thing is excellent and it looks so awesome. Glad I bought it! I posted below which tubes I'm using. I didn't use the stock tubes at all because they came with rust inside.
KeeferI'm not sure it's a no brainer, definitely do your research, but I don't think any other tube option really comes close at that price point.
Headphones I've used for long amounts of time with it;
AKG K712 - I'll start with these because for some reason I think some songs sound better out of the Magni 2 Uber. I think they're already a bit spacious and flat, so when you put them in the tube it changes them a good deal. Some songs sound better, some don't. The bass guitar definitely is more separated and clean out of the Darkvoice.
E-MU Teak (Teak Cups) - (Rage Against the Machine - Take the Power Back) Just got these babies and I love them. The Darkvoice widened the soundstage a bit and instrument separation was noticeably better. The bass guitar had more texture and sounded more realistic.
Sennheiser HD6XX - (Fleetwood Mac - The Chain) Separation better again. I had to crank the Magni up to about 1:30 on high gain to match the Darkvoice volume at 10 O'clock. The Darkvoice just feels impactful. Female vocals were actually a bit more prominent on the Magni. (Dave Matthews Band - #41) On the Darkvoice the cymbals have a bit more clarity and realistic sound to them. Midrange vocals are a bit further back. Percussion at around 3:40 was a bit more natural.
Overall - The only observations i've made here that are really noticeable without getting nit-picky are the soundstage widening and instrument separation. This isnt like a blow your mind difference, but it's enough to notice for sure. How much this has to do with the tubes I'm using I have no idea, I'm sort of a newbie to this hobby so take my opinion with a grain of salt. The Magni is a great amp all on its own, but the Darkvoice gets power, style and tube rolling points. My favorite headphone of the bunch are the E-MU Teaks and I love them in the tube. If you already have a great solid state amp I wouldn't call this amp a 'no brainer', but if your solid state is at Magni tier or you're just looking to change things up, i'd say take your brain out of your head and click JOIN DROP.
bYtockOk now this is getting very very confusing lol
Did you order the 110v? I can clearly see that 250v =)
Also, look above the comments, I've also posted 2 pictures so can you please also upload the picture of the plug?
And is it still running Good?
zero123i don't use the stock plug. I ordered the 110 v version, i think it's just a manufacturing quirk with the labeling. The cable has nothing to do with the voltage (unless the fuse is built into that which it isnt)
zero123I ordered one on Amazon. The stock plug should be fine is just metal. I think the issue is the factory was lazy with proper labels and didn't label our 110v units correctly. The correct fuse should be in there. Id plug it in and try it.
bYtockI see.. I'll contact Massdrop and let the support team know because they're already trying to issue a replacement for my current DarkVoice lol
Hopefully this will resolve my problem.
Thanks for the help though.
