Am I right in seeing this doesn't have a DAC built in? I'm a bit new to headphone amps, but I have a Zero that has an optical input, and has nice output, but am looking into tube amps after hearing such great things about them. I can't understand why an analog input on this would be superior to a digital input, particularly when coming from a digital source like my PC.

Artif3xIt's just an amplifier, not a dac. You'll either need to buy a separate DAC or use the one on your PC.
The preamp out is a nice touch though, lets you run active studio monitors or use a stereo power amp.

KairosUngodI can see why it makes sense to have them separate, but I have limited space on my desk. Even my Zero DAC/Amp is kinda chunky, but this tube amp requiring a separate DAC would be even bigger!
Most of what I'm doing is games, with occasional music while I'm working, so it might not be worth it. Sure is interesting talking to you all about this, though. I've been curious about tube amping my headphones for a while now. I'm using the Audio Technica ATH-50s, which are the best I've had so far, including my Shure 530c in-ear monitors.
