STRAIGHT UP Is this a solid tube amp buy at 2 bills? Understand tube upgrading/rolling is a must. Id like to hear from you DarkVoice fans or are you a non DarkVoice 336 fan????

KeeferStraight up, this is a SOLID tube pre-amp (and headphone amp) at 2 bills it is a steal. I have owned the Conrad-Johnson PV-3, PV-8, PV-11, PV-12, and the Premiere 10, which went for $3600 in 1991 dollars. For a $200 pre-amp to even approach the performance of any of those machines is pretty spectacular, but that is the reality of CNC manufacturing coupled with Chinese Industry, and using quality European and American parts.. If you are looking for fabulous tube sound the DV will go a long way. Make sure the rest of your gear is up to snuff. I have also ordered the Little Dot 2 to try out and compare, different circuit, different tubes..

GugliermoThanks for the reply. Good stuff. Nice to connect with another 2 channel audio fan CJ makes high end stuff, so I know you've heard good sounding audio. That's high praise for the DV coming from you. I'm impressed. Interesting to see how Little Dot compares. I know they have a Markll DAC that's got good reviews. The CNC process has really helped overseas outfits to produce decent products. Understand that! Please keep me posted Gugliermo. Thanks again

KeeferYou bet Keefer. 2 channel forever..(-; All that multi channel is a nice gimmick if you are watching movies and want the helicopter sound to go around you but for high fidelity music listening it's a bust. Splitting up the original recording into 4-11 tracks and then splicing them together through different channels does not serve the music. We don't sit in the middle of the band/orchestra, and we have two ears for a reason...(-; But of course, to each his own. I put the DV in the living room to see how it would sound in the big rig. Wow is all I can say. The synergy of this thing with three different amps/inputs is excellent. Liquid, warmth, AND resolution. I may leave it there....(-=

You cannot use an SS amp as a preamp. An amp is an amp, a preamp is a preamp. The preamp goes into the amp, not vice-versa. "Maximum power" ? what does that mean? Yes, all hi-fidelity gear will be damaged with the volume all the way up, if wired correctly, but what you are suggesting will destroy it instantly. Please learn the basics of signal source, signal pre-amplification, and signal amplification. There is much info available about the way separates work and the proper hooking up of them. Too much info to go into here. The DV is an excellent Pre-amp, to send signal to an SS amp. The only thing that goes into the DV is signal source. What comes out of the DV goes to an amplifier. Hope that helps, good luck.

Gugliermoahhh sorry I meant as a dac... Cuz my amp/dac only has one output and I was wondering if it would effect it or should I just get another dac.

A.LinOK, that's a different story. Yes, the DAC/amp (if it is a headphone amp) will work nicely with the DV. Put your digital signal into the DAC, the DAC outputs into the DV input, the DV outputs to an amp, the amp out to the speakers.

Gugliermothanks, I was concerned that since the dac and amp output are from the same socket, it's going to damage the DV.

A.LinIt shouldn't be from the same "socket". If you are using the line out rcas from the DAC you are fine, if you are using the headphone jack output (with an adapter to rcas) the signal will be too hot as the DAC/amp has a small "amp" section meant for phones, which need very little power compared to hifi speakers. So, no, if your DAC does not have line out rcas, do not use it to feed your DV. Cheers.
