Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.

Not amplifying the audio coming out of the turntable(bypassing the LP 120's phono-amp) is probably the issue. The phono-amp inside the LP 120 is designed to amplify the signal coming off the table before it heads to the speaker/headphone amp.
TURN DOWN the volume on the Dark Voice, turn on the phono-amp, and then inch the Dark Voice's volume pot up.
Not turning down the volume on the Dark Voice before turning on the phono-amp, could destroy your cans.
Hopefully this helps.
No sarcasm meant, but what kind of sound does the phono-amp make when turned on?
Is it like a buzzing that drowns out the sound of the music playing?
Good luck and post your findings. I'd be interested in hearing what the end game solution was/is.
I am currently using MM cartridge Ortofon 2M Red, but getting a pre-amp that support both will not restrict my choices cartridge-wise. Also, the Emotiva XPS-1 and the Schiit Mani are the most versatile and allows both MM and MC and also allows you to control the gain.
Hopefully that's helpful.
