I got mine Feb 16th, and hooked it up last night. Sadly no sound out of the headphone jack. Big tube lights up, but little tube doesn't. Oddly though, I put an audio source on "output" RCA connectors and was able to hear audio (faintly) on the headphone jack... :(
jkittlesenSo a Tung Sol 6SN7GTB arrived in the mail this evening. Plugged it in and things seem all fine now (good glow), getting solid audio out of my headphone jack (driving some HD6XXs).
For a few minutes I was getting a left-channel hum, but it seems to have equalized out to both ears now. Even with volume all the way down. I'm wondering if I'm picking up line noise or do the tubes just need some burning in? I start to get some audible amp noise with the volume knob at just above 9 o'clock, but I'm guessing that might be just the source (computer headphone/line-out jack at the moment). Any recommendations on burn-in procedures?
archie4ozGlad that solved the issue!
Some is because of burn-in, but I also had some motherboard PC noise and ordered a DAC.
Good luck and keep up the good work.
jkittlesenWell I had a bad hum when I first bought my darkvoice. I replaced the stock tubes with RCA tubes and there was still a hum. I followed the burn in directions from the link and the hum is gone. Burn-in is real in this instance
