Hi guys, and hallo to community
I have the question for you, actually i have:
iMac-->Schiit Modi 2---->Schiit Sys Pre-Amp---->Audioengine A+ speaker.
Yesterday i bought the DarkVoice and now i'm waiting to arrive in my home, but my question is:
i have only one RCA output on DAC and is employed for SYS Pre-Amp.
What do you suggest? a second DAC for DarkVoice? :/
Thanks in advance

Since the Sys is totally passive in nature, you could reverse the Sys in your chain. Plug the DAC into the output and then you can plug the Audioengine A+ Speakers into one of the inputs of the Sys and the Darkvoice into the other input. The selector switch can then be used to select between the two destinations. That is the way I'm using mine. I can feed one DAC output to two different amps and switch between them. This functionality has been confirmed by Schiit. The one caveat is that supposedly you have to turn the volume knob on the Sys all the way up for it to work in reverse mode which means that you would loose the passive pre-amp aspect. Interestingly in my case the volume control still works reversed however it does not have a very fine level of control. I only use it as a switch anyway so I leave the volume nob at 100% all the time. In your case I guess you would need to use the Audioengine's volume control knob which may be inconvenient.
bwcgrxCan you post pictures of this please? I have a sys too with a Magni and modi connected to the Darkvoice. I couldn't get mine to work in reverse so I bought an rca splitter.
TacoboyAn even better and much more obvious solution!
Edit... One issue, I assume, with using the Darkvoice pre-amp outs is that it would have to be turned on when using the Audioengine speakers. Depending on how often the speakers would be used it would incease tube wear as they are on when the amp is not being used for headphone listening.
KTMDI'm unable to take a picture of the wiring as there is no way to get behind it the way the amps and gear on my desk are arranged. It is really just as simple as using the outputs as inputs and inputs as outputs. Again the pre-amp functionality is suspect. In my testing just now the volume knob on the Sys works however it seems that the volume changes the most from 7 o'clock to about 9 o'clock. From about 9 o'clock to about 1 o'clock it does not seem to change much and then it appears to pick up from about 2 o'clock until maxed out at 5 o'clock. I've not used the Sys as designed so I don't know if this is normal behavior for this potentiometer. I can't think of any logical reason why it would not work with the Darkvoice too. I'm switching between an Asgard 2 and Supreme Sound Lycan with the source being an Aune S16.
KaiserSoze85Just have the Modi feed into the SYS. And the SYS out to the Darkvoice and the Magni. That way all you have to do is press a button on the SYS to choose between the tube and the slate amp.
In my chain, I went to Amazon and bought 5 rca splitters for $9 that way I still have the option to feed into speakers, but I bought something else for my powered monitors
KaiserSoze85It's the same thing. Same with cables. You can spend hundreds on cables, the sound won't change.
As long as there's a signal and connection, the sound won't deteriorate
