What can we do to get this back into production? 1200 requests seems pretty serious. Massdrop should pursue this by contacting Das....."We have 1200 people ready to buy this one keyboard, are you thinking what we're thinking?"
I'm so happy I got this unicorn. It was originally purchased for me by my previous company at my request and when I left the company I told them that I wanted to buy it off of them. They ended up selling it to me for $95 (it was used exclusively by me). Which is a great price considering the original cost, plus international shipping plus import fees and duties came out to over $250 :-)
I wonder if the plate suports switch-top opening. I'm guessing I doesn't, like most OEM boards do.
ealiagach
Correct, it does not. But that doesn't mean you can't use a Dremel and turn it into a plate that supports it. :3
Any update on this? 508 requests and counting...
426 requests for this keyboard and no action yet... Will this ever be a reality?
logitech69
Please bring this back!
Much interest in getting one of these keyboards. What does it take to get a drop live? It said the last run was limited to 57 keyboards... this presently has 377 requests...
Let's DO this! Want one of these sweet beasts on my desk @work.
I got mine on the last drop and it's everything I wanted. I love the Das Keyboards, and this is my 3rd, and I really wanted the 4 in Clears, so great.
My one gripe is that the stabilizer inserts appear to be glued in. Which means I need to get a new set of stabilizers for all the large keys (shift, tab, enter, backspace, etc...) when changing keycaps. If one isn't changing keycaps, then this point doesn't matter, but if one is, then keep that in mind.
shura0107
I had a standard dk4 and the inserts weren't glued in. I swapped keycaps without issue. It could have been something necessary for the White switches if yours were indeed glued.
Sweet! Mine came in Monday. NYC.
Be forewarned, the box actually says "MX Brown Switch," but there is an additional sticker that says "Cherry MX Clear Switches." It definitely has clears, I promise! Typing on it right now. Feels great.
So why is it exclusive? Is it because Das is not available in Clears?
yguo
Exactly
waiting only for 4c exclusive with cherry if there is such
RIP why isn't this MX Cherry Blues?

yea, but this Massdrop isn't blue switches... it's all good I went with a ducky shine 6 anyway.
Takesen
You can get one for $5 more at Amazon, with free shipping $4 less.
As much as I love the keyboard. Between the shipping cost to New Zealand and the exchange rate I can't justify buying this :'(
eXcapiZm
Shipping isn't cheap but guess what, I got mine already and I live next door to you in Convict Town.
Sometimes rare stuff is worth getting no matter where you reside because it isn't available from anywhere else.
Elrick
well im pretty sure you could buy cherry clears and then solder them in if you really want a clear das keyboard 4...
So I recently ended my year long search for a new mech keyboard ... I was looking at this board for awhile, but I needed backlighting for gaming. I love the minimal look of the board and the lack of logitech-esque HUD lcd panels, or graphics spewed across the board, or even multi colored/diamondplate keycaps ... BUT I absolutely love standalone multimedia functions - I often run a music player in the background while I play games - I hate messing with function multi key presses just to skip or pause a song. I also love the large singular piece used to tilt the board, not the shitty little plastic feet that 99% of all boards come with these days.
I really wanted a board with mech keys, standalone multimedia controls and RGP backlighting. After much deliberation, I decided on the Corsair K70 ... but instead my wife got me the Razor Blackwidow Chroma v2. Oh man I love it, but I'm pissed the keycaps don't have LED pass-through for the Fn media control hotkeys ...
Kilsimiv
Considering this isn't an all Vegas styled keyboard here at all. If you want trashy lights, best to go with the other makes.
Elrick
Trashy lights? Preferences bud. Half of DAS's keyboards feature white backlighting. I like having the RGB lighting programmed differently for typing and for gaming. I'm not saying the strobe of rainbow bullshit that people show off when they get a new RGB board. Fuck that noise. I like the clean look of the DAS 4 and the wheel definitely makes it unique - but I like the lighting.
Keycaps and LED lights are still cheap as s***t. The whole keyboard looks so cheaply made. Doesn't worth the price.

I bet you have a life. Good luck kiddo
Well, truth be told, keycaps are cheapo thin ABS which is prone to shine.
I don't understand, what justify the price? It's a legitimate question, not trying yo bash just to understand.
To me it looks like a normal full size board, however for the price it lacks the Double-shot PBT keycaps and any kind of backlighting Every other keyboard for this price has both these features

Sir_Playsalot
Far cheaper than any LZ full sized keyboard and he doesn't supply any key-caps at all.
For the price this keyboard is solid, durable and supplied with the very best CherryMX key switches in my opinion. Like it's weight and ease of key presses when using these switches.
Sir_Playsalot
Along with what others said, it's a rare switch. There's only 1 main keyboard on the market with MX Clears, the CODE keyboard. Which has absolutely no extras that this has, like the media keys and volume knob and USB 3.0 pass through. The code keyboard without these features is $160 usd, and does not have free shipping, making this the same price with far more features, a deal. And yes it's not the best keycaps, but mx clears fit tighter than any other mx, so they don't be wobble as much as you might think. Either way I'm hoping to get this and swap out some of the key caps (wasd, arrow keys, enter keys and escape) with either red PBT or textured keys. But yeah main reason for price is the clear switches.
I've been using a Das Model S for years at work, and a WASD Code Clear at home, and always thought "Would be cool to have the look/finish of the Das with the awesome Clear switches of the Code..." I'm so disgusted with myself for having missed this drop! I hope they bring it back!

Glad to hear. I was pretty decided in my decision not to pick up the DAS but it's nice to feel even better about sticking with the code
Also have the WASD and this DAS model creams it in spades.
Solid keyboard with the extra media controls which I LOVE to death. Having the extra USB 3.0 hub on this keyboard is the icing on a Fat-arse cake, worth enjoying ; )
Believe it or NOT, just got Postal Confirmation from MassDrop that this item is heading down to Convict Town : )
This has to be the FASTEST Group Buy ever since it looks like they actually had these in stock ready for immediate delivery, Good one MD.
Really looking forward to this one : )
Elrick
Same here :)
This is coming down the Line here.
4 Hours left, yet I still haven't received any of the other keyboards bought from MD last year : (
Does this ship with Command and Option keys? It's annoying that Mac users are so ignored here for keyboards, and there usually no information about Mac key options.
Leftnotracks
Das makes a separate product for Mac, which isn't offered in this drop:
http://www.daskeyboard.com/daskeyboard-4-professional-for-mac/
The Command and Option keycaps aren't the only difference. Some of the keys have entirely different functions (e.g. Eject instead of Insert), and there is only one indicator light for caps lock, instead of three lights for caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock.
Fwiw, I'm a Mac user myself, and I prefer Windows keyboards. I've purchased seven Windows keyboards to date, and I haven't had a compatibility issue. I simply remap the keys as needed and they all work great. I've found that I would actually prefer not to have a Mac-specific keyboard because manufacturers tend to assume that Mac users want things like an Eject key or F keys with pre-assigned functions like activating Dashboard, which I personally don't use. Windows keyboards are generally consistent, so I can just use the same remapping scheme for all of them.
I did try purchasing a Mac-specific keyboard from Massdrop once, but the quality was so poor that I returned it. That may just have been an exception, but so far my experience with Windows keyboards has been much better.
The ruler is a poor choice as front feet replacement. The keyboard slides on my desk with the ruler installed. I replaced the 4 Pro with Das Keyboard Prime 13 and am happier with it.

Indeed, Browns are my best choice.
Good to know, thanks!
Any chance of this keyboard in green switches??

Could there be a green exclusive?
SuperZanti
It's hypothetically possible I guess. You could be waiting for years though, if it happens at all, which is not very likely to begin with.
Third time this item has dropped. First time it was for the Ultimate, but we got only about halfway to the MOQ of 250 units. Second time was for the Professional, and I didn't join because I wanted an Ultimate. Now the Professional is back again, and this time I see the TKL model isn't available. Makes me kind of wonder if Massdrop is clearing out stock of a low-sales product, and perhaps won't be offering it again.
After complaining previously about the lost chance to get an Ultimate,* the only thing I've achieved is that I still don't have a Das 4 with Clears. Not much of an achievement, especially since I've always wanted one. I can't see into the future, but my guess is that my chances of getting one of these boards are only decreasing with time. So now I'm eating my words and joining for the Professional.
I have a set of blank black PBT caps sitting around already, so I can get close to the Ultimate's all-black look. All of the boards I currently own are TKL or smaller, so this will be my first full size. And after all that, I have to say that I'm really looking forward to it.
* For the interested, my earlier complaints posted here ⇒ https://www.massdrop.com/buy/das-keyboard-cherry-mx-clears-massdrop-exclusive/talk/514924 and here ⇒ https://www.massdrop.com/buy/das-keyboard-cherry-mx-clears-massdrop-exclusive/talk/520812

Just remember that massdrop doesn't cater to individuals... It's a *group* buy organization
kuhnsrc
They should stop catering to plebs and cater to individuals who can afford a decent keyboard without these limitations. clear mx switches sweet. but where is the soul?
I just got mine from the last drop and have about 1 day worth of use.
So far, it's everything I expected it to be and the keycaps will soon be replaced (looking forward to seeing how the Dasher set works out).
I had been warned previously, but to those who don't know, keycaps seem to fit extra tightly on MX clears and require extra care when removing and installing. A better than average key puller is a must and make sure you pull straight up with a sight rocking motion.

This may not be available yet where you live, so I do not know if it helps, but this just happened today in the US:

Apparently everybody is going to need a lot of lube in a hurry--something big is coming.
eunu
New POTUS, KY sales go through the roof.
That two-port USB-3 hub though... fkin ell, is what I wanna say 2 years ago if usb 3 hubs were mainstream to keyboards at the time. So still not good enough. So USB-C is the way forward! Das Keyboards need to get crackin.
Load 3 more comments
One small thing to note. I've found several USB 3.0 devices that simply do not support running through a hub (External HDD controllers that require host ports). I've heard this is the reason for the relatively low popularity of USB 3.0 hubs. I haven't done much research, but hopefully USB 3.1 / Type-C solved this.
tw000
I've been using this Hub here;
http://blog.usro.net/recommended-usb-3-0-hub-for-external-hard-drives/
100% reliable and I can hook up multiple drives to this hub with no problems at all.
Have to own this baby.
This is extremely rare, getting a Das Keyboard in all authentic CherryMX Clears ; )
Love this keyboard for the inbuilt audio volume control and the two usb 3.0 connectors (only keyboard that has it). Of course not having any nauseous led lights is another bonus here for me.
Elrick
Indeed rare. But a USB-C would of been the sweet cherry on top. Though USB-3 isn't a deal breaker here.
If this only had ISO layout...
StoneHead
Or even better in my view, a HHKB layout.
I'm still an ISO lover, though, because I still love that fat ass ISO Enter key, but cheated to HHKB so I still feel the heartbreak and tryna heal.
StoneHead
Yeah I would also have goten on if it was offered with iso
Very pricey. Wish Clear switches had higher availability.
I'd like to see the Ultimate (blank keycaps) with MX Green switches.
Czex
Would like to see Das keyboards using more different Cherry Switches here but in our retail world all that is available is the standard Browns and Blues and nothing else.
Don't know how MassDrop can convince them to produce a keyboard using all Clears here, is MD that powerful in pushing manufacturers to produce specific models for sale, only by them?
Elrick
Pretty much, but MX Greens are readily available: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=844
I've got the version with brown switches, and overall it's a great keyboard for anyone in the market. Just be aware that it's not back-lit at all (if that's a factor for you).
