MooseGooseABS, google a bit. To be fair, i like the look of the keyboard, whatever ..., but those keycaps seem to be more a bit "alibistyle/we've to include something" if you know what i mean.
MooseGooseAll i can say, i'm in the same boat like many others, stock keycaps aren't relevant for my decision of buying.
They get replaced anyway, but it's understandable, this isn't the usual approach for all of us, depending on the state of addiction we've entered :)
MakamiYou're right, however, I kind ofwonder why a brand like DAS does not go with the netter keycaps, they're supposed to be full quality focused.
Look even Poker gives you decent keycaps
MooseGooseMaybe you should ask DAS why they're doing that.
I once had a TEK mk, which i really liked a lot, but crap keycaps having unusual shapes, no chance to exchange them, this had been the worst so far i've experienced.
MakamiDAS keyboard were in the Mech keyboard scene for a super long time and everyone always said they were expensive but super high quality, that's why I find it crappy that they offer ABS caps.
MooseGooseSales pitches are one thing and what the actually do another... Vortex pretty much lets the devices speak for themselves as they don't have much of a marketing presence. Das switching to Greetech switches could be seen as another move not in line with a sales pitch about quality... although Greetech might well be just as good as Cherry, don't know enough about it to say how it compares except that it's not clearly better like (in my opinion) Gateron..
ajsalminenAs far as I can tell, Das has actually stopped using Greetech switches and has gone back to Cherry MX. The copy on their website used to not name the branding of the switches they use, but now it does specify "Cherry MX".
For example: http://www.daskeyboard.com/daskeyboard-4-professional/
emojiBecause Cherry Corp finally has produced enough switches for many manufacturers to start using them again.
Nothing better than having extra competitors about, like Gateron and Greentech to push them in making more of their own switches otherwise the CherryMX landscape could of turned nasty for poor old Cherry.
Supply demand is what either makes a company or destroys it ; )
MooseGooseIf you're peeved about DAS using cheapo key-caps you should experience the Filco difference of doing that very same thing.
When buying any Filco, always throw out their own key-caps, thoroughly disgusting to type on BUT when you replace them with an authentic Cherry Set, it's like heaven to type on.
ElrickIt might be that I'm outdated bur when I was in college, about 5 years ago I wanted a Mech keyboard, did my research and came to have the idea that DAS and Ducky were sort of the best of the super best.
Granted there were no clone switches back then. So I guess DAS has become somewhat obscure for a reason.
I'll probably be skipping this and waiting for a less expensive keyboard with clears and a set of good keycaps
ElrickYou may as well cut out the middle man and buy your own barebones board plus your own keycaps. It would still be cheaper than the $150 price tag for this board.
