I've been looking for a sub-style watch for the last month or so. I considered the following brands that make a variant of the sub style: -Squale - Steinhart - Seiko (various models) -Aeronautic -Raven - Helenraou - Casio -MKII - Christopher Ward - Alpha -Marcello C -Grovana
Based on my weeks of research I've concluded that Squale $500 price range was a great buy as was the Steinhart. However for me, 40mm was important, as was availability and most of these niche brands seem to be out of stock.
Reviews for the Davosa that I have come across have been positive, most common likes have been the detailed finish, solid bracelet feel, Tried and true swiss movement, decent lume, extension bracelet and of course the ceramic bezel. The price of $700ish is standard and a lot of reviews stated that the $200 difference over the Squale is worth it. So when I saw the massdrop price of $509, I jumped on this.
I get it...It looks similar to a Rolex. But so what? this watch isn't pretending to be a Rolex, its just using Rolex styling, and lets be honest alot of the Sub style watches have similar style cues.
I like the design, the finish is supposedly great, it has a swiss movement, and its by a brand that prides itself in watchmaking.
I'm looking forward to getting mine. Hopefully it's as good as the reviews, if not better!
