So many things wrong with the advertising of this deal.... These bookshelf speakers are $40-ish at Parts Express.... The header on this deal says 49.99 for speakers AND SUB with free shipping. Then as you dive in to order, it's not $49.99 for speakers AND sub... Okay.... So add the sub for $65 on top of the $49.99 and come up with...... $120? I passed 3rd grade so I can say definitively that the math doesn't work there. There's nothing NOT shady about the advertising of this deal. Disappointing.

MBLaniquetteI don't know where you're get $40-ish on Parts Express, when I look up these speakers they come out to be $60 on Parts Express, Amazon is the same story. Also on Parts Express and Amazon, the SUB-1000 is $120 by itself, so considering that the drop in total for the speakers and sub is $120, it's like buying the sub and getting $60 speakers thrown in.
Maybe you're thinking of the Dayton Audio B652 instead of the B652-AIR with the AMT tweeter? That goes for $40 because AMT tweeters are quite a bit more expensive than normal tweeters.

adrianordAh, yes, I see the "Air" difference now, but it does not earn them a pass for deceptively saying that $49.99 is for bookshelf speakers AND the sub. Nor does the math work out to $120.

NeenerManMeh. If you'd read the word "and", you'd see. If you add $49.99 and $65 and come up with $120, I can't help you.

MBLaniquetteYou were complaining about being mislead when all of the info is there.

NeenerManBecause the title says it's the speaker and the sub so when seeing that on the homepage on Massdrop for $49.99 it comes across as misleading because you're not getting that for $49.99, $49.99 is just the speaker. I entices a click, and can be seen as clickbait. Sure it's not "wrong" in all technicalities, but having the ad for this item laid out like that at face value before you click to the actual page it makes it seem like the speakers and sub are supposed to be $49.99 together, when they're actually not.
It's the same kind of feeling you get when you see an item on Amazon for a really good price, then find out after you've clicked into the ad that it has $100 shipping and that's why the it was priced lower.

NeenerManSure it's there. Obviously, it's there... After diving in. But the headline is total BS.... Bookshelf Speakers AND Sub, 49.99, Free Shipping....
By your standard... Let's say you saw my sign for "Burger And Fries Special! $4.99"
(See, I used $4.99 because it's similar to $49.99, but smaaaall.)
You say "Yum! I will have that!" And you give me $5.00 I say, "Great! Here's your burger and a penny back!"
You say, "Thanks! Are you making my fries?"
I say "No. Did you want fries?"
You say "Yes, I want the burger AND FRIES deal for $4.99".
I say "Oh! That deal is $12.00". (See what I did there? It's like $120 but smaaalller).
You say "The sign says it's $4.99."
I say "Yes!"
You say "So I gave you $4.99 and I would like my fries".
I say "Okay but fries cost $6.50 more.". (see what I did there?)
So you say, "but the sign says Burger AND FRIES for $4.99".
And I say "Yes. The burger is $4.99. and I am simply letting you know that fries also exist as a thing in this universe. However, fries cost $6.50, burgers cost $4.99 and if you add those together it's $12.00".
Then apparently NeenerMan would say "Oh! That math and signage makes perfect sense. My bad."

MBLaniquetteThat doesn't work. The situation in the story doesn't give you all of the information. If you had read more than just the title of the drop, you wouldn't have been "mislead". Honestly, if you make up your mind about something based on the title, you deserve to be disappointed.

ZacharyBinzNah. It works perfectly. I didn't make up my mind on it. I read a misleading title. I think misleading titles are disappointing. So do you.
