The material in these are as hard as rock which leads to a pretty lackluster seal. OK I suppose for people that value not having to stuff things in their ear canal (ala foam tips from comply) and don't mind the loss in isolation and bass. A softer material (ala something I imagine the "Radians" ear plugs are like) would probably lead to a better seal.. I assume that the material chosen for this product was done for the sake of easy application. I used Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10's but even just taking the material and making an earplug out of it doesn't allow for a proper seal like (costly and frequently replaced) "Comply" foam tips do. Pretty disappointing, will have to foist them off on some less critical family members.
Time to go DIY with some of those radian earplugs and some headshrink tubing.
tldr: The material once hardens just doesn't seal, basically holds ones earphones "near your ear". YMMV.
