Given the difficulties some have reported with packaging previously, can someone describe how the bobbins are going to be packaged this time? Will the bobbins be loose and therefore likely to unwind? I am interested, but not if it will take work to be able to use the bobbins.

The bobbins arrive in this type of packaging. Once you take them out, if they are not properly secured in a donut or some type of case, they will unravel. I think that's why people like these donuts so much.
