T-X0 is a shitty shit that should be only considered as source for the argon mode... sound is just TERRIBLE... hope that Ryan can fix it... but it will be around $200+
So as for me Argons or 60 are clearly the winner here.

LazYevgenThe T-X0 is based off the mk2 driver where the Dekoni Blue is based off the mk3. That's already a big difference in sound quality there before we get to mods or pads.

LazYevgenI totally agree with you my T-X0 been sitting in my drawer the whole time with the HE4XX. The M1060 is by far the best bang I spent on Planar, don't know how these compare but if they are using same driver as mk3 with Dekoni tuning I am skeptic to pull the trigger. Too much money down the drain already in this hobby.

fallenmigyep... same story.
T-X0 now is in the modhouse with the hope to get at least SOMETHiNG out of those 150USD +200 for the mode. Drivers on 4XX were jammed and yokes were misaligned. No bass and mediocre everything else. Returned to sender. Refund collected. M1060 is my goto when anyone will ask me about cheap (kinda) planars.

LazYevgenWhich mod to get from Modhouse for the TX-0? or do you just give them money and say make it sound good? If is worth it I might try....

jaydunndidditI would say the difference between MK2 and MK3 is about 5-10%... Same driver same shell slightly different head pad and pads and i hope something different in damping but that's it!

LazYevgenJust realized you were talking about the t50rp mk2. Have you listened to a mk3 stock or modified? That's what is on offer here.

jaydunndidditStock 2 vs stock3.
This one is modified but who knows how and what was done here... no reviews or feedback... price is pretty high. why bother and not just grab argon or 60?

LazYevgenThere's actually reviews and feedback for these out there on Google: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/dekoni-audio-blue-official-fostex-t50-rp-headphones.873064/ and https://audio46.com/dekoni-audio-blue-review/amp/.
On top of the Argon's are much more expensive since they lack the better pads and a hard case at their base $245 price.. The Blues also have a better padded headband. Just for 2 sets of pads and a case balloons them by $125 to $370. The t60rp is base $300, lacking extra pass or a case so that balloons price as well. Not to mention the lead time for both. As none of them are meant to replace each other but just a different take on the sound. Really a matter of preference for your genres of choice.
Either way, the Blue's are the best bang for you buck with the best bundle of accessories. What sounds better is personal choice. Even the m1060 you mentioned is more expensive and have a host of issues and QC problems while sounding mediocre. Personally, HiFiman, Audeze, and MrSpeakers make the best planars but you're going to spend 2.5 to 4 times the cash to get their best sets.
Much like the 4XX, this is a great intro to planars and Fostex for those new to the hobby. Both of which sound great without breaking the bank. The 4XX are more technical and revealing while the Blues are more musical and fun. A great combo IMO before moving up to the heavy hitters.

LazYevgenI thought I was the only one. I picked up the T-X0 because I got a taste of planar when I picked a T50RP MKII V1 (acoustic foam, cotton, shure pads) from Mayflower and loved it. It didn't have visceral bass but the detail retrieval was amazing. The T-X0 was a hot mess of warmness for some reason; I felt hey they stopped making it, may as well pick it up but it's been sitting a box ever since after listening to it all of 3-4 times. The HE4xx were a way better buy for me, best bang for buck so far.
I want to try a MKIII and this is tempting, but my experience with the T-X0 has me wary. The 60 that I just discovered exists has me intrigued.

dekoniGuys, if only u would give an option to get ONLY cans for $170... and another option is to get all those accessories for another $70... it would be MUCH better offer and a lot of people would give it a try.
With this current price it's kinda hard... i'm not saying that price is bad... but one can get it without hassle and without that case for pretty much the same amount next day shipped....
So if you will give those options u will get much more participation.

LazYevgenWhy would they sell a modded t50rp mk3 for the same price as a stock one that doesn't have the updated headband or color scheme? Let alone the accessories that are $120+ themselves? Makes absolutely no sense. This is the cheapest modded t50rp out there by far. You should be thankful they're selling it at this price for the community instead of bitching about the price. You can easily go elsewhere and pay more for less.

LazYevgenWell, they're relatively new and not many people know about them. Frequency charts and reviews are a bit scarce so I'm sure most are just waiting on impressions before pulling the trigger. Folks reacted just like you during the Elex, 58X, Massdrop+, etc. initial drops but when re-drops happened they jumped on board readily when more information and reviews were more abundant. Kinda the norm around here.

jaydunndidditCharts and graphs only give you idea what to expect, but often times reality is different. I've spent fair amount of money on gears purely just looking at FR graph, I can say what I hear is only half accurate. So without demo or tried in person is too much a gamble IMO. I am not saying the mk3 driver is bad, I had one and I know what it is. I am just skeptical about the tunning, how good can it be given there are several reknown variant on the market.

jaydunndidditi bought a few cans out of MD and for now i can say that one should buy with care...
T-X0 - pure shit for 150USD wasted time and money. 4XX comes with jammed drivers and misaligned yokes and all this after 6 months of wait-time... 180USD + shipping back forth just wasted time and money. I really would like to jump in with Elex but i was scared to get myself another shitty cans form MD.
So u're kinda right. Folks like me are rejecting because of those reasons...

fallenmigI dunno. Any FR chart I've seen on InnerFidelity, HeadFi, SBAF, RTings, etc. Has been pretty spot-on to what my ears are hearing. Maybe I'm just fortunate in that regard but for me it's a solid indicator of what to expect. Seeing their square wave, distortion, etc. as well just paint an even clearer picture especially when they can reveal voltage and impedance swings, output impedance tolerances, and so on. I know that doesn't cover everything but it really does come damn close to painting a full picture over demoing a unit momentarily. I've been burned more than once via a demo that sounded awesome and over a period of time flaws that weren't present prior rear their ugly head. Easier to see those flaws firsthand from a graph and measurements beforehand than later down the road.

LazYevgenI'd have to disagree with the 4XX. I've had mine since 1st drop and not an issue in sight. That and for the cost, they sound excellent as well for an intro to HiFiMan and planars. You may have just had bad luck with yours but countless reviews across the interwebs state otherwise. They have been received well for a reason.

LazYevgen4xx scale incredibly well... with my otl amp they have tremendous base. Planars also have imho a long burn in...stinks u had build issue with yours.. i had the yoke snap on my He560 in a week and returned them.. Hifiman are know for build quality issues, but overall the 4xx is solid build if u get a good pair at the start.. No more hifimans for me.. I use alpha dogs for closed planars and am going with zach at ZMF for his new auteur open back planars for next cans...maybe he will do a small drop here :)

jaydunndidditPoor guy got a dud.. 4xx scale very well and are amp depedant like most good cans... They sing on my Burson SS and lafigaro 339 tube...serious bass on my 339... I kept my 4xx and returned my he560 due to crap plastic yoke that broke in a week...also, IME planars need some break in time compared to dynamic cans...This is a very subjective hobby
