Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

The bottom is an upside down ash tray epoxied on. The balance is so good she'll hold two pairs of heavy, full-size planar magnetic headphones without coming anywhere close to tipping xD
Does that help?
Do note that the tape will catch hair and skin grease and stuff too, so doing it this way requires cleaning them off and re-applying the tape every 4-5 months, more often if you're pad-rolling a lot. You might be able to go a year between cleanings if you just use one pair of pads and don't mess with them. So understand that this way requires a bit more upkeep, but to me, the improved sound is well worth the trouble.
The Dekoni pads don't really change much about the 7xx sound, but pad-rolling that headphone doesn't make much difference anyway, they sound pretty much the same no matter what's on there.
The Hifimans are the opposite, they are very sensitive to pad-rolling. The Dekonis have a more complex effect on them. I thought they emphasized the bass on the HE500 so strongly it was a distraction; I didn't much enjoy them there. They seem to do more for the HE400. They are blissfully comfortable on either one
It's easy to experiment without messing with all the tape or anything. Just set the pads you want to try in place, and let the normal squeezing pressure of the headband hold the pads against your head. It'll be secure enough to stay in place while you listen and decide if you like it or not, and you can swap pads in a few seconds to AB test them
