Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

So, overall, the sound is quite close, but it's just not there. If you love how your Teaks sound because of how sharp, accurate, clear and precise they are in the treble - you will like them less with the Sheepskin pads. If you find the treble to be a bit too hot, these pads might be perfect for you. Again, I don't know what the bass will sound like with the ring, but I'm listening to my Teaks right now without the ring (and the Sheepskin pads), and the bass is fine, honestly. If I had never heard the Teaks with their stock pads, and the Dekoni's were the stock pads that shipped with them - I probably wouldn't mind, but for me - the stock pads win in the sound department.
One positive thing about the Sheepskins and the reduced treble is that they tame a peak in the treble around ~10 KHz (?, don't hold me by my word on that, I might be quite off, but I'd say it's somewhere around there). While I don't find the sound offensive there with the stock pads, they can come off as a bit metallic sometimes, but in all honesty - I think that's because of my poor amp/dac combo (I have a FiiO E10K that I'm scrounging up the money to replace).
Also, I think that the sound is more natural overall with the stock pads (except for that peak with my gear), while it is a bit darker/warmer with the Sheepskin pads.
Anyway, I realize that I might have went a bit all over the place, and I apologize for that. If you would like more info - let me know! I am currently using the Sheepskin pads because the stock pads are just atrocious to use comfort-wise. I just can't. They're terrible.
Another thing that I tried and that works very well for me is the stock T50RP Mk3 pads on the Teaks. They bring the midrange up even more, make the sound even more natural, and are - believe it or not - more comfy than the stock pads. Not the ultimate in comfort, but better, and better sound. The only problem is that you might get a bit of sibilance when you crank up the headphones with them, but it's not that bad.
I have the ZMF Ori pads ordered, but they won't arrive soon. I have tried the lower tier ZMF protein leather and lambskin pads (the huge ones that you can buy on their site), and the sound was no good. So I'm waiting for the Ori pads now.
I'm hoping that the Dekoni pleather pads will be the ultimate compromise in sound quality and comfort. We'll see.
