Poor construction, even poorer value

I got a pair of the AKG K7XX Fenestrated Sheepskin pads, and to be fair, I did enjoy this enjoy the product while it lasted, and it really does seem to be genuine leather, but because the right cup of my K7XX's went out I stopped using them after about a year with these pads (circa Nov 2019). I finally revisited the right cup issue a few years later and attempting to repair them, the pads practically fell apart. In hindsight, it should have been obvious these are a cheaply manufactured: the K7XX uses a plastic ring that locks into the cup by rotation and you can see the foam through the plastic ring. What these means is that the leather is glued on using the outer diameter of the ring, and screen is glued to the inner diameter of the ring, with the foam being exposed through the center track of the ring. Since there is so little surface area for adhesion and the locking mechanism works by rotation, when the glue begins to degrade, the pad will simply fall apart with minimal effort when attempting to remove the pad, and there simply isn't enough material to be re-adhered by hand, at least not without compressing the foam and changing the dimensions of the pad. What's strange is I see these going for $60-70 on Amazon, but I just got a pair of earpads for the AKG K240 from some brand at $15, and these $15 pair are already a much higher quality than the Dekoni ones I received - no exposed foam, and the pad is noticeably thicker. I could be generous and say the locking mechanism for the K7XX presents a difficulty that isn't present in the K240s, but at $38 I paid (much less than the sale price on Amazon), I expected the solution to be overbuilt rather than under - at this price point, I don't think it's acceptable to have the foam exposed, and if you are going to cost cut on the material and not enclose the pad in leather, at least use a longer lasting adhesive if not using a more permanent method of securing the ring locking to the pad. So my conclusion is that these are (generously) ~$10 pads masquerading as something premium, and the dishonesty about that really rubs me the wrong way. Had I actually paid upwards of $60, this would be a 1 star review, but shipped at $38 and getting a solid year or so out them (maybe they might last longer if you never need to remove the pad), I'm more disappointed rather than livid, so 2 stars. But seeing how it's made, I'd sooner chance chance it with a no name brand on Amazon than buy another Dekoni product, as the quality certainly doesn't demand any sort of premium.

expected quality pads from Dekoni

I bought a number of different versions to try with my TH-X00 Ebony. The attenuator rings are absolutely needed for all pad swaps. The Hybrid is perhaps the best combination of comfort with the velour face and sound (to me).

These pads suck - destroyed after 2 years of intermittent use.

These pads suck. The pad covers and stitching are falling apart and shedding after two years of use. The original pads on my Sennheiser, AKG and Beyerdyamic headphones have lasted 5-10 years with no issues. I paid a premium on massdrop for what I thought would be a quality product, but I could have gotten the same item on Aliexpress for $5.
