I really like fountain pens, and I'd totally be interested in buying one here if they were going cheap enough (and shipping was favourable), but I seriously have to question the point in offering such expensive fountain pens here.
Fountain pens are a luxury item, and +$200 fountain pens are an extreme luxury. You aren't paying more for the function, you are paying more for the looks. With that in mind, I don't see the point in such expensive pens. If someone is going to pay $794.99 for a pen, they probably wouldn't be so averse to paying another $50 , or even $100. If you are the kind of person to spend so much on a pen, then you've obviously got a lot of spare money anyway.
Wouldn't it make more sense to offer group buys for cheap pens for the kind of people who would want another fountain pen but don't have the disposable funds to justify the purchase at the normal price? Why not offer some LAMY Safaris or Vistas or something? Or some Kawaico Sports.
There's lots of non-Fountain pen people on here, for keyboards and audio equipment and such, so surely it's a good idea to offer some entry level pens for those guys.

Dark_EtherealToken troll here-> Byline: "The deals fly-by fast and ship slow, but it's a deal bro". I saw this one today and almost jumped on-board: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/pilot-gtec-c?s=pilot . Then I realized I use a keyboard 99% of the time so 12 nice(ish) plastic pens is worth 1% of my fiscal frivolity. Last time I used a fountain pen I bent the tip mighty quick but I appreciate the appreciation of them: just not enough to spend over $700. Perhaps if someone taught me how to write with one properly without it feeling like nails on a chalkboard. Roller-ball yay!

wontonotnowwontonotnow: yeah plastic pens are cheap and easy to find and use but i have found that using a fountain pen makes me want to write more often. I like the weight and feel of a fountain pen. In addition, using one has greatly improved my handwriting (chicken scratch) and reduced hand fatigue if I do have to write for longer periods, exams or class notes. If you are bending your nib when using a fountain pen, either you are putting too much pressure or your nib is really weak and cheap. Remember, the fountain pen is to be held very lightly and just needs to touch the paper and not pressed onto it. As mentioned by vrillusions, a Pilot Metropolitan or Lamy Safari are great starter pens. I own the metropolitan and love it. I also own a Lamy Vista, the brother of the Safari, and love writing with it too. If you are feeling like spending a bit more, the Pilot Vanishing Point is a beautiful pen to look at and use and I got it here in the drop. Overall, like a car, there are many brands and makes of fountain pens and to each his own. I would say a fountain pen is the Standard Transmission version of cars, a joy if you know what you are doing with one. Hope that helps.
