The problem is that these aren't headphones anymore; they're out-of-production collector's items. So you're paying for the rarity, rather than the performance. For a similar price, you can get the replacement-series D600, which seem to rate favorably to the D2000 yet are still considered to be $50-100 overpriced.

thesociirDont EVER recommend the D600 as a replacement again. It isn't and will never be. Don't follow the mindless zealots, have a look at the Denon D600 launch thread on head-fi, I made some big comments (that got slated) for discrediting the inexperienced Flavour-of-the-month idiots that reviewed them saying they are great, and then later on I was proved right by people who had both and who had experience saying the D600 was SH*T.
