Product Description
Designed by Dalton Bissell, this 3D-printed top looks like it was formed in the eye of a storm—and it spins much the same way a tornado does. It’s composed of a stainless steel alloy that’s infiltrated with bronze, giving it a rugged bronze aesthetic Read More
These are 3d printed and the cost of churning out heaps of these would be insignificant, even with a stainless steel filament. Why is there such a high price tag attached to it?
I actually purchased this top from DB on eBay about a week or so ago. One of the more eye catching pieces of mine from a design point, anyone with manufacturing and fabrication expirences loves the way it was 3D printed. It will spin forever as long as you keep blowing on it. You must be careful not to blow too hard or in the wrong direction however, as you can easily destabilize the top in the process. I like many on massdrop wish the stem was larger, it is a difficult piece to spin if you have big hands. My only other complaint is you must be extremely careful not to let it spin down on a surface that can scratch It. The anodization coating on the outside of mine is starting to wear away from the bottom Of one of the tornadoes lower spiral arms. I believe this happens when the top destabilizes and slows down after it falls over. Nothing major, but something to keep in mind.
B33SONI haven't made one with a smaller stem. Some people have asked me to make it even bigger, you are the first to ask for smaller so far. What if it was stemless? Would that be the coolest for you? Or How much smaller where you thinking and why?
Dalton_BissellAs long as it can get started by hand without a stem, I really enjoy the idea of a sustainable top. Would be very pocket friendly and cool!
Below is a stationary shot of the spinning Dalton Tornado Top Pro for about 30 minutes. There are no camera movement and the focus is good.

Uploaded on Apr 20, 2017I used better lighting for this version. I shot it for about 30 minutes so you know this can go on and on without stopping unless the air pump stops working.
At 4:35 min. on the video, I removed the cover (air flow from air pump) and viewed the Tornado Top directly from above so you can see from a different perspective.
KingC0wI have requests to make it both smaller and larger... Both are possible.

well this will be my very last post before canceling my account ...i joined over a yr ago and bought a couple items and would have undoubtedly bought more in the future ..until now...i have had a confederate flag as my avatar from the get go and it never seemed to be a problem... until i post something others dont like or agree with... suddenly my avatar is taken away and replaced with "offensive" i will tell you whats offensive.... massdrop moderators.. what would the world do without you "sensitive social justice warriors"!?
kkt45I wasn't bothered by your confederate flag avatar. At least not until you posted this and I read some of your supporters posts. I think you should be allowed to have it. But people should be allowed to criticize you for it as well. Maybe the fact that this discussion page for a top started to turn into a north vs south argument has something to do with the moderators removing your avatar--with the hope that this discussion page and future pages you post on would not be taken off topic by the same symbolism. I think it has less to do with massdrop moderators being liberal social justice warriors (which they may be), and more to do with moderators trying find ways to keep politics out the the discussion, and not hurt a products sales by letting the discussion veer off topic. You have admit, it's kind of ironic you're leaving because your feelings were hurt, but your post below was trying to hurt the feelings of the top's designer and the customers who chose to join the drop.
KingC0wThere are glass lenses over at DB-Tops.com for $8.99, they have a optional silicone band to protect you and your top from any unpolished edges. I will be offering them along with my next drop. Nothing like having a brand new surface to spin on.
