A different product, straight from DFROBOT, has a higher resolution, larger screen size, and is compatible with the pi 3, and best of all: it's for a price that's lower than the commit tier price at quantity 1.
No idea how to start a poll for a drop, but I'll figure it out and start a poll for it. There's no sense in paying more for less.

WIT-404Communities -> DIY Community -> Polls -> Start a poll.
They set some nice guidelines to clean up polls. You should check the it out https://www.massdrop.com/article/poll-creation-guidelines and then create the poll. I'm willing to give up GPIO for the larger screen.

ZacharyBinzThe poll is up. There's two others there that require Adafruit's pi-hat, Kippah, which basically turns gpio into a ribbon cable. (which would actually be viable/not jank when working on a project that makes use of a bloody touchscreen...)

Cowfodder"All the Raspberry Pi GPIO are accessible through pin headers at the side of the screen. " It's a Pi-hat that is the same size as the Pi3, uses the GPIO slots while still leaving the pins available (which frees any usb connections and the like), has a larger diagonal screen size and resolution, and last but certainly not least, is cheaper (before discount) than this drop at full discount.
