Carbon fiber is hailed for its durability and lightweight composition. These wallets from DFWcomposites are crafted from carbon fiber and high-quality elastic Read More
Frankly, disappointed with the quality of this product. The carbon Fibre itself looks great in the light. But the edges and finish is extremely poor. A colleague made the comment that it looks like the kind of work made of a school craft project. And he's not all that wrong. It does the job of holding cards, but you can see the exposed layers of plastic under a roughly cut layer of carbon Fibre with jagged edges to the touch..
And to add insult to injury, they have these wallets listed on their own site at the same, or even lower priced. (I paid 54.99 plus an extra $7 for red lace, and it's listed as 54.99 on their website....) also had to pay an extra £16 for customs..
Don't get me wrong, the carbon Fibre looks nice, it does the job.. But this is 100% NOT worth the price I paid. :(
00Achilles00Thanks for this. UPS messed up my delivery so now it's on the way back to Massdrop. Based on your feedback I think I might just cancel at this point.
I got this a few days ago and have been carrying it since. I feel pretty meh about it overall. It is actually relatively thick and with 8 cards is thicker than my ezgo wallet (that holds the same amount). The fit and finish isn't anything spectacular either. The carbon fiber itself looks nice but you can clearly see all three layers on each side (carbon fiber and two plastic sheets) and the layers aren't all flush on the edges. It holds the cards in fine but since it is basically a fancy elastic band the whole package sort of can move and twist. It doesn't really cause any problems it just doesn't feel very solid.
With all that said, it works as advertised. You can pull all of the cards out where the one corner is notched and fan out the cards by squeezing the bottom. It is a minimalist wallet and delivers but I just don't really like it.
Hey everyone, these were dropped off at the post office today. US people should have theirs by the middle of next week, and our friends outside of the US should have them the following week. Thanks for participating in the drop and please get in touch with us at support@dfwcomposites.com if you have any questions!
Also, a quick image that illustrates how to best use the product can be found here: https://dfwcomposites.com/collections/magwallet
Is there a thicker model that will hold more cards? Between work, personal, and medical cards I carry quite a few more than 10. Plus my IDs (again work and personal) get shoved in my wallet too.
Hi everyone, thanks for checking out the drop. Wanted to add some photos of the wallet with cash in the strap. If you have any more questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
awsumsawzHi awsumsawz! The wallet does offer a reasonable amount of RFID protection. Carbon fiber is naturally impermeable to RF signals in the radio EM spectrum. The wallet wasn't designed from the outset to offer RFID protection as we've found most people miss the functionality of being able to use RFID cards at their workplace or apartment to quickly key in without having to take the card out of their wallet. However, the wallet does quench the transmittance enough to where if the card isn't on the other most layer of your stack, it doesn't register. It ends up being a convenient best of both worlds situation as you can still use RFID cards to key in to doors, but the signal is essentially worthless if it's more than 1cm away.
