I'm a complete novice at judging sunglasses. Can somebody tell me why this one has a price tag of $160? What makes it so special or different from the other models? As far as I know, this one isn't polarized.

ExtinguisherI think it's because of the ultra lightweight build, design, and materials. Would be nicer with polarised lenses, I agree, but still it's a reasonable price for some quality sunglasses. If it weren't for the fact I'm heading to Japan soon, I'd seriously consider buying these - I love lightweight eyewear.

SmithyNZThanks! The non-polarized lenses will probably be a deal-breaker for me. Could you explain to me how the 0205S's would differ from sunglasses like Choppard SCHB01 & Flexon FS5060P? They don't list the weight specs for them, although I've read that Flexon frames are particularly durable.

ExtinguisherBought the chopard ones they are very lightweight and flexible The polarized lenses are great These are not even worth it honestly At 160 you could find better deals and polarized lenses

sunglassesThank you for the reply! I was looking at the Chopard sunglasses, and they look great. However, I think the 135mm temple length may be too small for me. Unfortunately, I need something that's around 140mm. I'm hoping that the Flexon ones come back soon though!

ExtinguisherI'm not sure how much those other sunglasses were selling for on MD, but they both look nice too. I think it just comes down to personal preference in the end. If you like some 'bling', then the Chopard would definitely tick that box (and they're made in Japan, which is usually a good sign). The Flexon looks more traditional - I don't know where they're made though - and the Dior aviators are for the person who likes a minimalist approach to design.

SmithyNZWant to spend big money? Yves got some nice ones, just a bit pricey. Anything that isnt polarized above 100 I dont think are worth it unless they have really good glass. In the end to each their own

sunglassesSorry, I'm not looking to buy sunglasses - I was directly responding to Extinguisher's question "Could you explain to me how the 0205S's would differ from sunglasses like Choppard SCHB01 & Flexon FS5060P?". I have spent US$300+ on non-polarised sunglasses in the past (pre-kids!), but that was for Oliver Goldsmiths and they're exceptional. Worth it to me, but as you say, to each their own. Polarised pros: Great for driving, great for fishing/water activities, great for general glare reduction Polarised cons: Can't see a phone screen, car media/navigation screen (unless it has a special filter), usually more expensive
