Haven't checked for new watch drops in a while and this morning I wondered why
Then I viewed the current drops and remembered
Only watches 42mm+ width and 14mm+ thickness are ever dropped
Only straps for people with wrists the size of my thigh are ever dropped
bill_districtleatherHi Bill, appreciate the response. I'm a 6.25" wrist - can't promise I can make it worth your time though, as I also have a thing for old watches with odd lug sizes (the old watches fit my wrist better, but then I can't get a strap for them... it's a vicious cycle)
I suspect people like me are doomed to just buy custom straps for life.
sockpuppyFor what it's worth, I've got a Nomos Tangente 38 with 19mm lugs, and a small rectangle Longines from the 1940's with a lug size a hair smaller than 18mm... and I also have a 8.75" wrist. Maybe that counts as being able to relate somewhat? 😀
One of the reasons we're excited to be able to sell on Massdrop is because of the all the community feedback we can gather during and after a sale. Since we're a small, specialized operation, we're able to adjust pretty quickly to demand. Already, with what we've garnered from this discussion, we've completed designs for 18/19/20/21/22/24mm straps in three different lengths, and the equipment is already in-hand to produce them. We're also working through a few innovative ideas that will provide a way for customers to manage precisely where the buckle holes are placed.
While your straps may technically still be "custom" because they're not already sitting on a shelf, we're hoping to bring some aspects and advantages of buying bespoke to an offering that's more transparent and attainable. I'd love to learn more about your watch collection and your experiences buying straps if you wouldn't mind reaching out to me through the District Leather website.
Thanks!
bill_districtleatherThat's interesting. I have a 38mm Tangente too. Look at that, we're 2.5" difference in wrist size, but still own the same sized watch.
