First successful print! It has a lot of imperfections, but I'm still pretty happy. [img:20140602_090906.dwk.jpg]
I had issues with bed adherence using masking tape directly on the bed, I tried a piece of acrylic(still with protective paper on) that I had lying around and it stuck great to that. Pulled some of it up when I took the part off, so I'll see if masking tape on top of the acrylic works(without the heatsinking properties of the metal bed).
I have had some other issues(it seems very shaky, can't drive the z too fast or my right rod binds, extruder gears binding at some points, less with retraction disabled. Probably need to clean them up a little better), but I think it's on the way to being a good printer!
Currently I have a ziptie tensioning the extruder idler because I was missing some parts, seems to work well enough.

I'm nearing the end of my build and I have a quick warning to everyone: Do not wire and solder according to the diagram in the PDF, it will not work. You need to figure out the stepper wiring based on this http://reprap.org/wiki/Stepper_wiring. Unfortunately, I had already wired, soldered, and heatshrinked based on the diagram, so I have a lot of undoing to do. I spent quite some time thinking it was irreparable too because the steppers just jerked around loudly with the incorrect wiring.
Also, you will have to perform significant cleanup on the printed parts.
On another note, did anyone else not get the heated bed? I've emailed massdrop about it and they forwarded it to techshop about a week ago. I did say no need to rush, but I haven't received anything back yet. I'll probably follow up soon, but I'd like to know if others are having this issue or have had it resolved.
Also I'm pretty sure I was missing some minor hardware parts. I think I'm going to be able to get away with the minor missing parts, hopefully I'll know for sure later today(I think I'm getting it finally finished).
Has anyone on this drop finished theirs yet?

Is that 12 volt 17 amp power supply enough to drive a heated bed? Or should I go out and get a regular 'ol ATX power supply?
EDIT: From further investigation, it looks like this model DOES NOT come with a heated bed. Still tempting, but let it be known. Someone should fact check me, just to make sure.
Sources showing a lack of heated bed: http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?1,291456,335159 search this page, people mention adding a heated bed later on.
Official DIY Tech Shop page: https://shop.diytechshop.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=55 No mention of a heated bed on this page. EDIT: And one of the reviews states that it can be easily modded to add a heated bed later on.

I just built one of these, prusa i3 rework edition. Sourcing the parts will cost you $495 shipped in the US. I chose to ditch the magma hotend and go with a E3D all metal hotend (so I can print ABS and other materials). Also instead of a mk1 or mk2 board which require glass over to print on I chose the mk3a aluminum. I did not get an LCD. This kit when it reaches the lowest level is a fairly priced machine.

cccxmIt's likely that atrueresistance used the official bill of materials from http://reprap.org/wiki/Prusa_i3_Rework_Bill_of_materials

This is everything I would need for a functional printer, correct?
royalbrainThere is a power supply that is shipped separately available at checkout, or you can get one from an electronics store.
