Brand new from DJI—and available now, on Massdrop, for pre-order—the Mavic takes drone flight to new heights with a flight-control system unlike any other. Thanks to sensors such as ultrasound, GPS, dual redundant IMUs, and a ground-facing camera, the Mavic is not only an expert at collision avoidance but a trove of telemetry data as well Read More
I got a Mavic from NewEgg with a 5% off coupon when ordering from their mobile app. I charged it on a new credit card I got just for the Mavic that's giving me $200 back after spending $500. So, net price including shipping is $749.05! And that's before the $25 store credit with Massdrop. It's just getting warm enough to fly, so perfect timing!
google it. but if you have the card already then you do not qualify for that promotion. i think when i signed up for chase like 3 -4 years ago it was $300 cash back. but i could be wrong. its been so long.
I took up for MD when people were complaining about them. But now I'm pretty much done with everyone involved. I dropped out of the buy not too long ago. I could have had one of these in hand months ago but decided to wait on MD until not long ago when it became obvious that the drop was not going to happen. As much crap as I have bought from MD and then they leave me out of the refund because i cancelled a few weeks before they cancelled the drop? Doesn't sit well. I had to wait a week after cancelling for the to refund my credit card. I could have done a chargeback but I waited. I'm not really worried about the credit and it was a nice gesture to some but as patient as I was with MD and as much stuff as I've purchased from them, to leave me out is just a sucky way to treat a customer. Most of the stuff I buy from MD can be found just as cheap elsewhere andarrives in 2 days , instead of having to wait weeks and months for arrivals. Still, I liked buying from MD but they can now kiss my a$$. Done with them
Not sure if you bought anything yet but if you have a university email, DJI will give you a 10% discount as a higher education discount. It won't apply to the mavic yet but it will not be long before they open it up mavic's eligibility to the higher ed discount.They already opened the P4P up to it, so you can get one for $1350 shipped in couple days to your door. I went ahead and bought the mavic from DJI and it shipped in 4 days. I didn't want to wait any longer on the higher ed discount, I waited long enough on MD. Just an idea, if you have access to a higher ed acct.
My 2 cents. I'm thinking this might not have been all on DJI. Of course it's a guess but I wonder if the vendor did not want to perhaps back out of this deal. Perhaps it would have been difficult for them to get 500 Mavic's _and_ deliver to their retail customers. MD seemed to indicate that they were having a hard time getting an answer from the vendor. Just my 2 cents.
I went ahead and ordered from DJI direct. They are down to a 3-5 day delay. $1,188 for the Mavic, 2 extra batteries and an extra gimbal protector. I never needed the case or chargers (will use a 3rd party charger).
Goodnews ; my hindsight is 20/20
Also I just ordered via DJI's site and found they do not charge tax and it's free shipping.
The realization;
This drop offered 10% off but charged tax and shipping...which bottom line ended up really close to what DJI's prices were.
Breakdown of my specific drop ;
- Fly More package: $1,169.99
- Shipping: $9.50
- Tax: $88.46
Total: $1,267.95
Order through DJI;
- Fly More package: $1,299
- Shipping: Free
- Tax: None
Total: $1,299
Difference: $1,299 DJI order - $1,267.95 MD order = $33.05 which is 2.5%
All of this month's of waiting, over $33.05. Now that I've done the math I'm very upset with myself.
I should've looked into if they charged tax and just ordered through DJI.
I got so caught up in the idea of 10% off that I could've ordered through them, had it already and not have missed my 3 week thailand trip that I originally bought this for....ohwell. Lesson learned trying to penny pinch. Trip was great regardless.
I'm not discrediting massdrop in anyway. I'm a fan of what they do and have gotten some great deals on here. This one, all in all was not the best experience due to alot of odd ball factors. But the biggest thing I learned was to do the math and see what you're actually saving....my praised 10% off was actually 2.5% off and a missed trip with it.
EricfragolaMaybe they charged tax because where you lived, my order was 909 shipping included. But thanks for the heads up on DJI no tax, going to buy it from them.
I know the drop was canceled but I think that their are enough people who are interested in another drop that you guys should consider contacting another vendor and doing another Mavic drop.
PMassI suspect the ultimate issue is DJI themselves, not being able to tell any vendor when they can send out Mavic's in bulk. I can't see MD wanting to take a chance on this all over again.
What a horrible experience this has been, cancelled a day one purchase with B&H to end up with nothing 4 months later no more bargain hunting for me. Yikes this is going to leave a mark, stings
Hi everyone,
We've received no update on a firm delivery date from the vendor or DJI, and we'll be going forward with cancellations and coupons. You'll be receiving am email tomorrow confirming the same.
