I will buy the tits off of this drop.
how many requests are needed for the order to activate?
I got a Mavic from NewEgg with a 5% off coupon when ordering from their mobile app. I charged it on a new credit card I got just for the Mavic that's giving me $200 back after spending $500. So, net price including shipping is $749.05! And that's before the $25 store credit with Massdrop. It's just getting warm enough to fly, so perfect timing!

google it. but if you have the card already then you do not qualify for that promotion. i think when i signed up for chase like 3 -4 years ago it was $300 cash back. but i could be wrong. its been so long.
CMoney408
Sorry, I thought you were talking about 20% off
I took up for MD when people were complaining about them. But now I'm pretty much done with everyone involved. I dropped out of the buy not too long ago. I could have had one of these in hand months ago but decided to wait on MD until not long ago when it became obvious that the drop was not going to happen. As much crap as I have bought from MD and then they leave me out of the refund because i cancelled a few weeks before they cancelled the drop? Doesn't sit well. I had to wait a week after cancelling for the to refund my credit card. I could have done a chargeback but I waited. I'm not really worried about the credit and it was a nice gesture to some but as patient as I was with MD and as much stuff as I've purchased from them, to leave me out is just a sucky way to treat a customer. Most of the stuff I buy from MD can be found just as cheap elsewhere andarrives in 2 days , instead of having to wait weeks and months for arrivals. Still, I liked buying from MD but they can now kiss my a$$. Done with them

Not sure if you bought anything yet but if you have a university email, DJI will give you a 10% discount as a higher education discount. It won't apply to the mavic yet but it will not be long before they open it up mavic's eligibility to the higher ed discount. They already opened the P4P up to it, so you can get one for $1350 shipped in couple days to your door. I went ahead and bought the mavic from DJI and it shipped in 4 days. I didn't want to wait any longer on the higher ed discount, I waited long enough on MD. Just an idea, if you have access to a higher ed acct.
GSwag
Thanks for the heads up. I do have access. Thanks!
My 2 cents. I'm thinking this might not have been all on DJI. Of course it's a guess but I wonder if the vendor did not want to perhaps back out of this deal. Perhaps it would have been difficult for them to get 500 Mavic's _and_ deliver to their retail customers. MD seemed to indicate that they were having a hard time getting an answer from the vendor. Just my 2 cents.
I went ahead and ordered from DJI direct. They are down to a 3-5 day delay. $1,188 for the Mavic, 2 extra batteries and an extra gimbal protector. I never needed the case or chargers (will use a 3rd party charger).
Why was my DJI Mavic Pro transaction deleted from my history? What is the effective date to be eligible for the email and coupon?
dixiestitches
the drop was cancelled
Goodnews ; my hindsight is 20/20
Also I just ordered via DJI's site and found they do not charge tax and it's free shipping.
The realization; This drop offered 10% off but charged tax and shipping...which bottom line ended up really close to what DJI's prices were.
Breakdown of my specific drop ; - Fly More package: $1,169.99 - Shipping: $9.50 - Tax: $88.46 Total: $1,267.95
Order through DJI; - Fly More package: $1,299 - Shipping: Free - Tax: None Total: $1,299
Difference: $1,299 DJI order - $1,267.95 MD order = $33.05 which is 2.5%
All of this month's of waiting, over $33.05. Now that I've done the math I'm very upset with myself.
I should've looked into if they charged tax and just ordered through DJI.
I got so caught up in the idea of 10% off that I could've ordered through them, had it already and not have missed my 3 week thailand trip that I originally bought this for....ohwell. Lesson learned trying to penny pinch. Trip was great regardless.
I'm not discrediting massdrop in anyway. I'm a fan of what they do and have gotten some great deals on here. This one, all in all was not the best experience due to alot of odd ball factors. But the biggest thing I learned was to do the math and see what you're actually saving....my praised 10% off was actually 2.5% off and a missed trip with it.
Ericfragola
Maybe they charged tax because where you lived, my order was 909 shipping included. But thanks for the heads up on DJI no tax, going to buy it from them.
Ericfragola
Maybe you will have to pay taxes when you receive the drone.
I know the drop was canceled but I think that their are enough people who are interested in another drop that you guys should consider contacting another vendor and doing another Mavic drop.

After all the headach for the MD staff and the customers it would be ridiculous to do new drop at the current time.
PMass
I suspect the ultimate issue is DJI themselves, not being able to tell any vendor when they can send out Mavic's in bulk. I can't see MD wanting to take a chance on this all over again.
What a horrible experience this has been, cancelled a day one purchase with B&H to end up with nothing 4 months later no more bargain hunting for me. Yikes this is going to leave a mark, stings
Hi everyone,
We've received no update on a firm delivery date from the vendor or DJI, and we'll be going forward with cancellations and coupons. You'll be receiving am email tomorrow confirming the same.

I also did not get a email. But I did get the refund and coupon.
JonathanSCE
Thank you. I'll follow up to see what the issue might be.
I am following up with the Commerce team and will post later tonight about what the verdict is going to be. Thank you!

Drum roll....
Don't want it cancelled but then again don't want to wait until after spring to see one. Hoping such an event doesn't hurt massdrop or the concept of group purchases.
Boo, no expensive flying neato toy thingie for me. . Yawn.
So tomorrow... Drop canceled or a firm date? My guess is drop canceled. Already worked out a $200 discount if the drop is canceled, so I'd actually save another $109.50 (no shipping cost either).
What's your guess?

I'm betting on cancelled as well...
Any way you can share the love with that discount you found (rdandy5875 (at) hotmail (dot) com)? I've been looking for somewhere that's offering a better deal but haven't had any luck. I've got time till flying season anyways.
teckel
Dude. I want! How did you manage that?

Got my mavic finally after cancelling and ordering thru DJI directly so excited

I don't fault their choice once demand was clear - but I really do fault them for poor planning. I have now confirmed with a couple of folks inside that it was a combination of rushing to compete with the Karma's announcement and serious underestimation of demand. The really lame part is DJI was a huge part of the economic forecasting that actually did a reasonably good job of predicting demand, and they STILL didn't plan for manufacturing levels. Speculation is that they intentionally under-delivered to drive higher marketing buzz, but it swamped them and they got caught with their pants down. In any case, since they have the lead by an insane margin, they can soak up the damage without flinching.
CheapBastard
Yea true the planning and execution was poor but with the great products they make they should have better manufacturing techniques to supply the demand
I'm glad for today's communication but bummed this isn't turning out. Should have jumped on the New Egg deal when it had reward points... It was impossible to know though. Oh well. Now that we're several months in, I'm thinking I may just wait for the Mavic 2. With how successful the 1 has been though, I'm worried that it'll not happen til 2018. Would be nice to have five or six direction avoidance that I expect they'll add.
iEzra
And then you wil have to wait for the Mavic 3 and so on...
wellywell
My plan is to upgrade every two years, so long as there's a compelling reason to do so. I have the P3P. It's great but I've had some expensive crashes due to lack of avoidance and bad piloting.
I picked up the Mavic directly from DJI and received it in early November. Used it on a trip to Australia and then sold it at a profit thinking this drop would come through. It's a great drone, but reasonable to think DJI will add multi-direction avoidance in the next model. Avoidance has been getting better and better from the P4 forward.
Hey everyone,
We know all of you have been waiting to hear back from us. The reason we have been silent is that we have been talking to the vendor to get a precise answer for the community so that we can deliver the product that you guys ordered.
As it stands, and we’ll go more into it below, there is no new update from the vendor to us, who themselves are in the dark when it comes to communication from DJI. We’ve decided, in the interest of the community, to provide a deadline of January 31st to the vendor and DJI to come back to us with a precise timeline so that we can make things right by you. If we do not get a response from either party in this time, we’ll be cancelling the drop, giving full refunds, and offering a $25 Massdrop coupon to whoever have remained with us on this roller coaster of a journey.
We are as disappointed in DJI’s production issues and their lack of communication as all of you, not counting the rare news updates they make on their forums. To give everyone a clear picture of the shipping timeline changes and communication with the vendor, we are enumerating the details below.
Our estimated shipping date on the drop was November 14th, 2016 taking into consideration DJI’s delivery date of October 30th to the vendor and transit times to our warehouse.
October 18th, 2016: First change in shipping timeline. Massdrop contacts the vendor and they inform us that DJI’s production is delayed and the delivery date of the Mavic has been pushed from October 30th to sometime in the second week of November.
November 1st, 2016: No change in shipping timeline. Massdrop contacts the vendor and they inform us that they will still be receiving delivery during the second week of November.
November 3rd, 2016: Change in shipping timeline? DJI makes a forum post that states delivery of the pre-orders received before November 3rd would be another 7-8 weeks. We are concerned about another shipping delay. http://www.dji.com/newsroom/news/mavic-pro-shipping-update-nov-3-2016
November 3rd -10th, 2016: Second change in shipping timeline confirmed. Massdrop contacts vendor a number of times inquiring about DJI forum post. Vendor confirms and quotes DJI’s forum post because they also have no further information.
November 15th - December 30th, 2016: No update on shipping timeline. Massdrop contacts vendor many times during this time period. The vendor has no update because they are also not hearing anything from DJI.
January 4th, 2017: Third change in shipping timeline. DJI announces that they will ship orders placed online on their website within 7-10 business days and ship pre-orders by Jan 18th. http://forum.dji.com/thread-70666-1-1.html
January 6th-18th, 2017: No update on shipping timeline. Massdrop contacts the vendor several times after the DJI forum post and is provided with no further news. The vendor has no delivery update for the Mavic orders or foresight into when these would show up.
Due to this lack of communication and continual delay, we are giving the manufacturer a hard deadline of January 31st on behalf of the community to give us a 100% confident delivery date. If at that point we still have no further information towards being able to deliver these, we will cancel and refund the orders with an additional $25 coupon to be used towards anything on the site.
We deeply apologize for this experience and have had several meetings noting and analyzing all events related to this drop so that they are not repeated. We are extremely grateful for all of you supporting us throughout and being vigilant in forwarding updates that DJI has been posting on their end. With every insight you all have provided us, we have gone back to the vendor and tried to push the manufacturer to get a clearer picture. Unfortunately, there has been no movement for this drop and the lack of transparency is extremely disappointing for us. This puts us in a hard place where we need to balance the desire to get everyone what they wanted versus stringing members along with no foresight.
Thank you.

The reason for remaining silent is bullards, please treat us with some consideration. Thank you
Your point about the communication is fair. We are looking into our updates to make sure that community members are always apprised about the status of a drop, especially in situations like this one.
Hmmmmm.

Yes, but now we know that we need to buy our drone in other place.
Think my last prediction was that we'd not see anything from this purchase until March at the earliest. Looks like that will probably happen. I now think there is a _very_ good chance that MD will simply cancle this order and refund everyone's money. I still suspect one of two things is happening... MD is simply doing nothing about this matter and when ever the vendor has enough product in stock to fulfill the remaining orders they will be sent out or, MD is now trying to find another vendor to fulfill the outstanding orders.
As there are no updates being given as promised I suspect MD has simply moved on to selling things to other people and if/when ever this deal comes about, they will let us know. Could be 2 month, could be 6 months.
What people need to consider is that the Phantom 4 had a life expectancy of 8 months as far as production.  We are already 4 months into this order with nothing to show. It's _very_ possible that DJI might release an updated version of the Mavic in another 4 month. It's even more possible that the price of the Mavic will drop by the time we see anything shipped (or very soon afterward).
Little update for those of you still in this drop.
"Dear DJI Customer, Thank you for your order. Due to unprecedented demand, your order will likely ship within the month of March, 2017. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused by this delay.
This is what you will get if you place an order through DJI now.

There's a fool here for sure.

I'm glad you self-identified. Now I'm asking you civilly to stop posting to anything I write on MD or anywhere else. Of course I can't demand it, but I'm asking you to behave like an adult and respect the request of another adult. Just stop.
Knock! Knock!

DJI has moved to 10-15 day shipping windows i believe the factory will now be on vacation. Some feedback and information would be greatly appreciated.
Wgriffiths
Sounds like you should be asking DJI for feedback and info on this.
My order was successfully cancelled !! Cant wait to get my money back! Now Im going to ask to delete my acc.
Been playing with mine all weekend. Cancelled here, and put an order in on DJI's website on Jan 5th, got the drone on the 18th. If you are not willing to wait, I would put an order in at DJI as soon as possible. There will be a 2-3 week manufacturing delay beginning next month due to the Chinese new year celebrations.
On a good note, the Mavic is great. I have had no defects or problems, and is definitely worth the wait. Picture quality is on par with a phantom 3. Its top speed is similar to the phantom, but since it is lighter it's acceleration feels faster which makes general flying much more fun. You can hand launch and hand catch if you have issues with its low prop clearance. It looks and feels like a premium product. I have had many drones and planes with a ton of flight time, and am very impressed by the Mavic. If you are still waiting, don't give up, the drone is worth the wait.
" You can expect an update from us on 1/11 or sooner if something comes up. " Please update as promised.
ecopilot
Now 13 days past the promised update date... Waiting till Friday.

What do we want? UPDATES! When do we want it? WHEN YOU PROMISED!
COME ON Mass Drop. The least you can do is provide us some kind of update, even if you don't know much. It's been a month since you've provided any kind of real update!
258 and dropping. I wonder what is happening behind the scenes? If only there was some way MD could communicate with us.

What's the order count down to now?
HeliFreak

helidirect.com gave me 5% DC( When I left order in Shopping Cart and few days later they gave to me ) and I had $20 Credit so got Mavic pro fly more combo $1218. and 1 Mavic pro from Newegg $ 999 and I sold it $ 1100 Cash. got $101 Extra !! Mavic Pro Combo $1218 - $101- ($12.18+$9.99( Credit Card Reward)) and about $49 Reward from Newegg and $12 Reward from helidirect.com !! It is like Mavic combo for $ 1033.33 !!!! Better deal than MD !! Good luck to ALL
Awesome, now instead of just whining I have to sift through everyone's shipping details on orders they placed elsewhere. You canceled with massdrop, now go fly your drone and leave those of us willing to wait alone.
texnick
I'll drink your salty ass tears.

Or... you could look at it as people trying to share information so you have better context about the market. From what I have been able to gather from small dealers and at least one reseller, anything not ordered directly from DJI's store is going to be delayed until at least the middle of February, if not the end of March. Ostensibly, this may help you make a more informed decision.
Well, it gets even better. I placed my order with Newegg on the 18th, my account was charged (again), but I got no order verification update from them as of today. I called support at Newegg and they said they haven't heard anything about the memo others have cited (though many dealers have). Since NE is just a non-stock go between, the order may still be fulfilled as if ordered directly from DJI, but they also cautioned that there may be delays up until March at least. Their management did say they would check on the announcement to see if they are included.
This is especially distressing as I've got two friends who ordered from NE on the 17th got shipping confirmation the next day, which is when I placed my order. That memo might have taken effect immediately on issue, but it's not clear if it affects only dealers and retailers (e.g., stock on hand to distribute), or resellers/non-stock marketplace entities like NE as well.
What recourse do we as consumers have in this case? Nothing, really. We can choose not to buy DJI, but there is no valid competing product at the moment. Bend over and take it, basically.
My guess is, as someone else pointed out, that MD is getting royally screwed in this, too.

Newegg will now not guarantee the 3-5 days processing. I apparently missed the window to order. I'm trying directly through DJI right now, and I can tell you their online sales support is like a bunch of brain-damaged lemurs.

And helidirect.com i was put mavic pro fly more in cart when it in stock after few days they gave me 5% off code lol. maybe it still have stock for it and mavic pro eta 1-24. 3-5 shipping from MA.
