Support for Alternative Layouts
This is a summary of how alternative layouts have been supported by kits such as Colevrak and Homing. It is not a discussion of alt layout performance and development, but if that interests you I highly recommend starting with Pascal Getreuer’s A guide to alt keyboard layouts (why, how, which one?). It’s a concise and comprehensive overview with links to some great sites that go deeper. He also has a separate Links about keyboards page. The Keyboard layouts doc he recommends explains layout goals and metrics in detail, summarizing the alt layouts discussed here as well as more than one hundred others. Sculpted-profile The majority of custom keycap sets are sculpted-profile (Cherry, SA, MT3, KAT, etc. - more on profiles generally here) so let’s start there. Because each row has a unique keycap shape, alt layouts require a unique keycap for each legend that moves off its QWERTY row. As i'm livin in Sweden, I bought the set last year on a Swedish webshop: http://www.google.se/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.inet.se%2Fprodukt%2F6607039%2Fducky-keycap-thick-pbt-109-set-blue-darkgrey-nordic-engraved&ei=MVaNVemUC4G8sAG-qIDQAw&usg=AFQjCNG-Uc-PkG7rGFF6XWsFke_KQ74KXA
But this set is out of stock.
Here in Sweden we have 2 webshops that sells ISO/Nordic/Swedish keycaps sets.
One of the shops has 2 different Ducky ISO/Nordic keycaps sets in stock, no more.
The second shop has the same 2 different Ducky ISO/Nordic keycaps sets + some more ISO/Nordic sets in stock.
That's all we have here in ISO-Sweden.
You can use ANSI keycaps sets on a ISO k-board but you need to replace the ANSI Enter + ANSI Left Shift (+ maybe some more keycaps) to the ISO Big Enter + ISO small Left Shift and in the same color as in the ANSI set.
That's why I bought a ANSI k-board (have 3 now and number 4 is on the way) last year.
Best of luck to you.
