Great news! The group’s order was picked up from the vendor and is now on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Given the tracking information provided, our warehouse team expects the shipment to come in by the end of this week and will be ready to get the order repacked and off to you as soon as it comes in.
Occasionally the shipment experiences a delay en route, but rest assured that we will keep the group updated throughout the entire process and let you know if something causes it to be set back.
We are thankful for your continued patience and you can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 11/30 or earlier if anything comes up.

It’s happening! Thanks to each of you, the drop was a success and we have contacted the vendor for the DxO One Camera and submitted the group’s order. They are now working hard and preparing your orders for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey, where our team will be standing by ready to break everything down into individual orders and reship them directly to you. We currently expect to have everything out of our warehouse and on its way to you by 12/2.
We will certainly keep you up to date on the process and provide all of you with updated information about the order status as soon as it becomes available to us.

From

, given how laggy the app is, I'd hesitate to consider this. TL;DR buggy app + lack of tripod mount makes for a horrible experience. Adding in shitty battery life idk what to say.

For that price why not just get a nice SLR that isn't tied to my phone?

I like it but I'd say it depends. The lagginess and battery life would kill me. Also if your iPhone dies before it, well you don't have a complete camera.
IMO Get a a5100 with kit zoom or some m43. Doesn't seem like it's a huge jump and doesn't look as awkward with one around and is smaller than most DSLRs.

lastzeroI picked up a refurbished d5300 for my wife earlier this year and I was amazed at how capable such a compact DSLR could be. The only mini DSLR I tried before that was the old d40, which was really limited.

The user experience for this device isn't really streamlined. Also, they charge too much for a fixed focal length camera that is essentially an add on module for the iPhone.

Excellent review of the camera on Luminous Landscape. Kind of a love/hate thing, they reviewer has pretty good sized hands and got a lot of shots of his fingers. He also had trouble with the camera accidentally getting disconnected, and had his phone fall off the camera a couple of times. Concluded it wasn't for him. But I know a couple of people who are fine with the shortcomings because that jump in sensor size from what's in a phone makes for a better file, not to mention the advantages of raw.
With the variety of ways of making photos and videos these days, I tell people that an awful lot of their decision on what to buy should be based on handling and how they feel about the UI. Most devices do a fine job making photos and videos under a wide range of conditions (my cheap travel-only smart phone excepted). Whether you find a device easy and intuitive to use probably has more influence on the quality of your images (and frequency of your shooting) than what chip or lens is there.

I got really exited when I saw this, than saw the video, instant turn off. If the video is raw footage its: meh, okay I guess. but its probbaly already enchanced footage so for 550$ its way to expensive imo

PelledgThat's because you're seeing the original video destroyed by compression. Click on the Vimeo logo to go to the Vimeo page for the video. Then watch it in HD.
I had the same reaction at first. It just didn't seem right based on the specs of the camera and the people who made it. I really like the idea and maybe in the future I'd consider one of these, but traveling light isn't a concern for me now.
