We own one as well, it's interesting to what extent people will try and discourage people from buying the chair.
I'm not sure what model you owned and to be honest it seems important to share your height and weight as these chairs are designed to be a better fit for different sizes depending on the model, many people ignore these things and then bitch it isn't comfortable.
The seat of this chair is certainly comfortable, it's by no means a 'bad chair' and ours has lasted a year, still comfortable as it was when we bought it. Those who will be interested in this drop are those who know that you do get what you pay for in life and that cheap $100 chairs don't last more than 6 months especially if you're a bigger person.
The only thing I would suggest is a downside with this chair is the arm rests, they aren't extremely uncomfortable or unusable, but it would have been nice to see some sort of firm/soft padding.
These chairs look cool, if you're a content creator and you have a color scheme that you would like to match, these are comfortable chairs that last more than a few months. It's a stretch to say this chair is a 'waste' of money, I myself dislike the feel of mesh.
