The cable currently pictured looks amazing. Can anyone confirm that is indeed the cable that comes with these? As opposed to the black almost nylon cable of the other Fostex cans?
clarkysanI purchased EMU-Teak end of 2016 from Massdrop and mine came with the black nylon like cable that is almost identical to the TH-X00 cable. It is 3 meters long though! It is possible Chan changed the cable to these after that particular drop.
MartinF-AUSThat quality on the rosewood is nice. I got teaks in the first drop and despite the pattern being gorgeous both cups were scuffed up and then lacquered on top of it. It makes me want to order new cups for my own, already got to fix mine anyhow
clarkysanI have these headphones and absolutely hate the included cable, I put it aside in case I ever sell them but purchased the (oppo pm1 pm 2 cable) since it's 2X mono 2.5mm.
I'm on mobile and just lost the whole breakdown on these vs some other cans I own... I tried to attach a photo and chrome crashed T-T. Im forced to just give you a quick impression...
These are buttery smooth headphones, not analytical, not going to be as wide as an open pair, but not fatiguing like some other closed v shaped headphones.
I appreciate the intamacy of the sound stage compared to my akg k7xxs, when I try my vmoda m100s it's like my brain is being assaulted. It's not that these sit in the middle it's just the clarity of the bass and sparkle is so good the intimacy doesn't end up fatiguing you, it's very pleasant.
A lot of discussion goes on about the bass, these are bassy, I would say it's more of a thump than a punch, it's a laid back but very clear bass and it reaches very deep without distorting. The high end may not be as sharp as other headphones, but it's very sparkly and clean, giving me a lot of wow moments. With my k7xxs I found myself listening to jazz and female vocals (ie Lena Horne) but was disappointed when it came to hip hop and edm. The teaks do hip hop and edm well, but man who knew I'd end up listening to Michael Jackson, deep cello music, and disco... And it's all just creamy good sound, genres I've never felt so attracted to just work so well I love it.
At the end of the day, the expectations I had sound wise was never fully quenched with any other headphone, since I got these I don't really feel a need to buy anything else, Im that happy with them.
They are beautiful, which helps.
