Has anyone tried these & the AKG K553 Pro Studio Headphone? I have the AKG but they're too wide for my head for a correct seal (AKG are too big for me). I also have some old Sony XB500's that fit perfectly. Are these any smaller than the AKG 553 Pro's? __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sony XB500 (Fits my head)

ZachLHmmmm definite "too wide", did you mean even at the smallest setting it's still too big? In that case I'm not too sure if this will be "smaller" than AKG K553. But I've had a few friends who had small heads to try the E-Mu Teak and so far none of them complain it's too big yet. Though I sold my AKG K553 a long time ago so I don't remember how big they were anymore. >____>???

HydeFor me the AKG 553 fit, but then it's like a LOOSE "n" shape. I don't know how else to explain it; I've tried many other over ears, but they have always been tighter than an "n" shape. I have some old Sony XB500's & they're tight and fit comfortably.
I've tried squeezing/bending the metal headband but I don't want to break it & it's still SO loose. The top half of my ear is covered, it's just the bottom half of my ear that has a slight gap. The only way I get a tight seal is if I squeeze the headphones while I'm wearing them... : ' (

I'm not 100% sure but...... My guess is the hinge on the ear cup is at the wrong angle, did you try take them off and bend the ear cup inward as much as you can and still doesn't fit?
What I mean is that rotate the bottom part towards inside and top part towards outside, the hinge if I remember correctly is very stiff, it only rotate if you bend it before putting it on your head.
From the picture it seems like it's possible for bottom part to touch, so it should be possible to get a more V shaped angle than n shaped angle if that makes sense.
I have the same problem on Grado headphones because the earcup hinge has like 5 degree of movement (which is like nothing) and I have a big head, so it would fan out like n shape you talk about (only top touches, bottom has gap). But I thought K553 should have enough rotation to fit.
Though to answer your question, all the Fostex variants (TH900, TH-X00, E-Mu Teak...etc) all have a "comfortable" fit so they don't go on super tight like other headphones such as M50X or HD650 (aka death grip). So I'm not 100% sure if this would be the best for you.

HydeYes I tried the tightening you mentioned, it's very stiff but it's not noticeable. If anyone wants these let me know I can do eBay or something similar as long as it's legit. I think I'm done with over-ears and ready for some Campfire IEM's. I have TFZ series 1 and Exclusive series 5 IEM's and have zero issues. I like IEM's.
