Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?
I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones. Looking for a gaming/content audio setup
Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on audio setups. I'd be planning on using it mostly for gaming. Preferably I'd like a pair of large closed back headphones since I have a big head and jaw. I'd also like to hear myself through my mic with mic monitoring. As far as budget goes, I don't really have one. But under 600$ would be nice. I can go higher if needed. The audio setup would be connected to a high performance PC. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

$10 Drop Coupon Email not sent?
Trying to buy some gear off Drop for the first time. I was told I would receive an email with a welcome to drop $10 off promo. I never received that email. Drop was able to send me emails for my login token and email for Password update. But for some reason the $10 off coupon was never sent to me.

Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.

Following are our observations and recommandations
Teak Signature
- Gentle V-shaped signature - Improved bass response, responsive, fast decay - improved upper mid-region to reduce siblance - Wider staging, better layering
Suitable genres Vocals, Jazz, Orchestra, Pop, Folk
Ebony and Rosewood Signature - V-shaped siganature, faithful to the original Foster design - Tight, powerful bass response at low-mid bass region - Gentle forward vocal-centric presentation - Energetic and lively high frequency response
Suitable genres Rock, EDM, Indie, Folk, Hip-hop, R&B
Rosewood /Ebony- Tight, powerful bass response at low-mid bass region Typical of a too small of a box giving a boomy resonance.
(very likely subtle differences but the principals apply) On the other hand the TEAK: - improved upper mid-region to reduce siblance - Wider staging, better layering
Implies either a reflective chamber causing peaks and nodes that might be perceived as "more midrange/soundstage". (can also be achieved by Parametric Eq) Or it also implies possibly the hearing of the TEAK wood itself being it is thin it might resonant at midrange frequencys. The ole in hand thump the chamber with your finger to hear its sonic "character" influence.
The "Teak" might need some reflective dampening but it is nice that there is more Room to do so. Slight V signature sounds about right though.
If it wasn't for the reputation of the Fostex drivers, I would be the first to criticize the manufacturer "Project leader" for not providing a minimal frequency plot for a $450 piece of audio gear as anyone can buy 10 "CALS" for that. (My general criticism of All high end audio gear not providing enough testing data ) For at most a $1000 could get a headphone properly tested on a model head independently or less if "in house". Honestly it seems testing should help dictate the design versus just slapping on some "Wood" shells on a fostex existing design. I thought a large conglomerate corporation would have it in its budget to do so let alone to offer more competitive pricing. It seems subjectively they don't anticipate selling more than a couple thousand units. So this seems like a niche product unlike the CAL's My guess is if they sold at the $200 range they would sell 10 times as many. Well I guess that it is why it is under the EMU badge versus the "Creative" name. Yes I am very familiar with EMU, Bought a few of EMU Samplers in the 90's early days, I always went by the EMU booth at NAMM to see what was new. Not that now represents then. I digress.
chan_emu , Since we can not demo the "TEAK" let alone touch the headphone could you please make an effort to answer a few of the questions posed by me and others in this forum and future ones versus "pitching a simple sales script". There isn't a lot of time before the drop ends. At least give us the luxury of the trade show script.
If things are proprietary then feel free to state that as well. Openness goes a long way here.
Forgot to add a new question: Why isn't a replaceable cord system designed in to the "TEAK"? The "CALs" (creative aurvana live) are known for having really flimsy wire with cable failure as 1 of their 2 weak spots. You can replaceable cable designs on $20 headsets now days.
EMU/Creative isn't designing these headphones, they are getting them with everything but the cups out of Foster's OEM catalog, and then putting their own custom chosen, designed, carved and matched cups.
