We target to get the detachable cable ready in 3 months time.
We are likely to offer with additional cost of $25.
For enquiry of additional wooden cup, please write to enquiry@emu.com we will get back as soon as possible.
UNW209Very good indeed. I'll wait for the next drop when the detachables will be offered. Can hardly wait! And please do also offer the cups (anyone know if those would fit the TH-X00 as well?)
chan_emuare the connectors likely to be the same as the prototype fostex th610? i joined this drop a few days ago but i might want to wait for detachable cables.
BaddogI don't really understand why so many people pull out from this drop just because they want waiting for the detachable cable version. Adding another plug/socket interface to the signal path, no matter if they are gold/silver/rodium plated, will reduce dynamice range and channel seperation. For home use, I would always want cable directly soldered to the headphones.
And if it is the TH-900 Mk2 cable socket E-mu will use, those aren't really durable plug/sockets.
asdflordJust be aware that the denser purpleheart wood cup might have similar effect to the E-mu ebony cups to make the TH-X00's FR more V shape.
I trust the E-mu Teak is a more refined headphone compare to the TH-X00, which does not need stuffy small opening earpads for sound tuning.
chan_emuLike many others here, I'm excited for the upcoming 'detachable cable' edition of the Teak. Hopefully, it will be offered on Massdrop. (I think it would sell quite well.)
Are you planning on using dual 2.5mm connectors (a la HiFiMan)?
Also, I think including a 1m cable (terminating with a right-angle ⅛" jack) would be an excellent choice. A 3m cable (terminating with a straight ¼") OR an extension cable with a ¼" jack could also be included.
fjrabonSo both the "Teak" and the THX-00 have the Fostex asymmetrical "angled" pads meaning they have a thicker back of ear and thinner front cross section?
The pictures make it hard to tell and the descriptions on both make no mention of this?
From what I gather besides the wood cap, the "Teak" has b-stock(not to TH-900 spec) TH-900 drivers,1/8" plug and "angled" pads and the TH-X00 has TH-600 b-stock drivers, 1/4" plug and the same "angled" pads.
With those subtle of differences besides the $65 shipped additional, it is perplexing why the TH-X00 has sold a 100 times more than the "TEAK" ?
It seems if the new "Teak" had the detachable cables and 1/4" plug and sold for less than the TH-X00 it would sell at least as many if not 10x more?
Sagaciousjust because fostex has the name and people loved the X00. I thought the X00 was a great headphone but it doesn't shine for any specific genre. I'm looking very forward to my teaks as I believe they are going to sound much better than the x00.
And the purpleheart thing is weird. Right now it's looking like the purpleheart sits between th-600/x00purple/x00 in terms of most bass/high to least bass/high and more present midrange.
th900/th600/EMU Teak/X00 Purpleheart/X00 in terms of most to least V shape.
Really I will review these headphones on arrival and spread the word if they ever drop again if they are as lovely as I can only imagine.
